Jessa discovers a world she never knew existed after buying a book at a yard sale. The mc is 18, but I think this story would appeal to 13-15 year olds. An enjoyable tale which moves along at a quick pace.

I was given this book in exchange for a review: The story itself was good and the characters were likeable though I would have liked them to have more depth as well as the new world. Also at times things seemed to move a little too fast and jumped around a little bit. But the twist at the ending really brought something unique to the story and I look forward to reading the next book mainly to see how it plays out. I would recommend it for anyone who likes fantasy or fairytales.

Jessa lives with her father where they connect with nature. But she has been plagued with dreams and finds herself meeting a wolf who turns out to be her savior. On Jessa’s eighteenth birthday she learns that she is actually a queen from the Faery realm. From this point forward Jessa is on a break neck pace to learn how to use her power, rule the kingdom, and learn to love her soon to be husband although she finds herself liking his friend too. And if that was not enough then there are the trolls and darkness that are trying to take over. Jessa needs to stop that from happening. Jessa is a great character. She is not the typical angst filled teen. She has strange dreams that actually lead into a really great ability. Then there is the whole surprise about being queen, here’s your king, and save the kingdom. This happened so fast that I’m impressed that Jessa didn’t freak out sooner for a lot longer. This is a great story for mid-grade readers and young adults. Although there is romance it is very light and the fighting is pretty mild. It is a wonderful fantasy story and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book Snow Moon. I received Harvest Moon for free from Tonya Coffey in exchange for a honest review.

First off, thank you Tonya Coffey for creating a powerful fantasy in an age appropriate environment for younger readers and keeping it alive and captivating for their far-seeking imaginations! Jessa has always lived in a remote area with her dad. Both love the freedom of the outdoors and the earth beneath their feet, but at almost eighteen, her life will take on huge changes, just not the changes she was expecting! An ancient tome will be the catalyst for dreams that serve as guides into a realm where she feels like both an outsider and as if she has finally come home. Jessa has discovered the world of the Faery realm and she is their long lost queen come home to take both her crown and save her people from the dark evil wishing to stamp out the light of the Faery World. Jessa is almost angst-free, rarely whiny and as is able to roll with the emotional punches quite well. Only in the heart of youth can determination and attitude convince one girl far from all she has known to assume the mantel chosen for her long before her birth. There is a bit of a love non-triangle, but it actually felt very realistic. Do you remember when you thought you really liked someone only to find that you also kind of like his best friend? Did everyone have the honor and grace to step back the way Micha does for his best friend Roderick? Tonya Coffey has aced the teen persona and filled these kids with a belly full of the fire of youth. Fast paced, filled with the prefect amount of detail, there is no slogging through each scene, but rather they jump out with a sense of magic and vibrant color. Let your child feel like a brave warrior or princess, because you know they will live along these characters through every page. Read it yourself and tell me you didn't feel like you were there, mesmerized by the magical, the danger and a young woman forced to come of age in a world she never knew existed! Fun, fast and furious with some serious sides along the way, once again, thank you Tonya Coffey for giving younger readers the opportunity to fall in love with the magic of reading.
