Overview

This book promotes a positive school spirit and sheds light on the school's history, going back to the late 1800's extending up to present day.

It's a fun historical record of the students, the eras, the school and the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Who knew there was a ghost who haunts the school auditorium and that the surrounding area was once home to the Ute Indians?

But, even better than that, this book will introduce you to some of the students that once roamed the halls at Harrison, including "Oppie", a self-professed James Dean sort of guy. Athletes Ron Roehrich and Oren McClure will share their stories and tales from their adventures both on and off the field at Harrison High.

A book that anyone who has ever gone to high school will enjoy! This book is an accumulation of research material gathered from the local library, school yearbooks, newspaper clippings and from personal interviews with those who've attended the school.

This book is available in full color or black and white.

About the Author

Teila Carroll Tankersley, freelance writer, wife and mother of six attended Harrison High School in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1981.

She was one of the forerunners in heading up and organizing the school's first ever, All Year Reunion. The reunion committee was expecting at least 200 attendees, hoping for 600 and very pleased when over 1,000 alumni showed up for this most unusual event.

The reunion was a success and along the way she met some inspiring and wonderful individuals. She has written several articles on her experiences and now in book format she shares some of the wonderful history and stories on Harrison High School in Colorado Springs.

Mo Orosco a graduate of Harrison from the Class of 1973 was recruited in April of 2011 to help edit the book. He was enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University where he majored in Radio & TV Communications and minored in Music (studied Theory & Composition).

He worked in radio news for KZZO-FM in Clovis, NM; and tv news for KOBR-TV in Roswell, NM and KOBF-TV in Farmington, NM.
