The new Guardians Of The Galaxy ("GotG") is one of Marvel's hot properties due to the excitement over the upcoming movie, but it's important to note that this success (and even existence) is due to this comic series, right here - the 25 comic Dan Abnett/Andy Lanning run in the late 2000's. The art is fantastic, bettered only by the epic stories and amazing characterization herein. If you want to know what's up with these characters, this is the place to be. This particular collection is the last six in the series, a complex story with slam bang action, and a lot going on. Combine that with the near perfect presentation of comics on my Nook HD+, and you are in for perhaps the best comics experience you can have (without the ink on your fingers!) The colors sizzle, the frame size is just about perfect, and it's easy to advance or zoom to reread a page, or get more art details. If you've ever (or never!) enjoyed a comic before, try this - you'll be impressed. And the story line will hook you hard (although beware, it's not a "kiddie comic" so you'll want to supervise kids under say 12 with the content here). But as an modern comic experience, these GotG comics on a Nook HD+ can't be beat - an "A+".
The Realm Of Kings tie-in by Abnett and Lanning was very good. Better than the previous, War Of Kings tie-in. The big bad who's back at the end is done extremely well and the story's main twists are handled very well. The art by Brad Walker was good but I didn't care for Wes Craig's pages. Overall, there were great character moments, intense action scenes, and a really good payoff at the end.
