About the Author

Don Westerfield Sr. is a poet and short story author whose books include Casting Shadows, The Closet Poet, and Grandpa's Book of Poetry, Prose and Ponderings: The Musings of an Old Mind. His work is included in the collections and anthologies, Write from Your Heart: A Collection of Memories from Pepper Tree's Past (Volume I) and Inklings 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. He is a member of the Florida Writers Association and the Suncoast Writers Guild, and a founding member of the Englewood Authors.
Hailing from the Midwest, he was born in Mount Carmel, Illinois, raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and spent forty-one years in Terre Haute, Indiana as an Air Technician with the Indiana Air National Guard and a member of the Military Reserve.
As a scholar and a warrior, he graduated magna cum laude from Indiana State University, taught Aviation History at his alma mater, attained Mechanic and Pilot Licenses from the Federal Aviation Administration, served during the Korean War, and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant and the Senior Enlisted Advisor to Indiana's State Adjutant General.
