Manuel Perrine doesn't fear anyone or anything. A charismatic, ruthless strongman, Perrine slaughters rivals as effortlessly as he wears his trademark white linen suits. Detective Michael Bennett is the only U.S. official ever to succeed in putting Perrine behind bars. But now Perrine is out-and vows to find and kill Bennett and everyone dear to him.

Bennett and his ten adopted children are living on a secluded California farm, guarded by the FBI's witness protection program. Soon Perrine begins a campaign of assassinations, brazenly slaughtering powerful individuals across the country. The FBI has no clue where Perrine is hiding or how he is orchestrating his attacks. It is forced to ask Bennett to risk it all-his career, his family, his own life-to fight Perrine's war on America.

With intensity, speed, and explosive action rivaling James Bond movies at their best-and featuring one of the most complex and chilling villains ever created-GONE is the newest astounding novel by James Patterson.

I just purchased this book and all I am getting is a blank as well. How can this be fixed?

All pages were blank. I was able to contact B&N support via live chat and I am told I will be refunded. Disappointed because I was looking forward to it on my upcoming vacation but at least B&N support was available to talk to.

I love the character Michael Bennett. I love James Patterson's writing style. I could not wait for the next Michael Bennett to come out after the last one, so, here it is and enjoy it. Thanks Mr Patterson for giving this character.

This doesn't read like James Patterson. With a good writer, you sail through the story watching a movie in your head. I'm stopping a few time per page because of an awkward word or phrase or an inappropriate quip.I'm a fan of the series, but I wouldn't recommend this book.

I've read the 1st 10 or so reviews & the 3 comments that are crapping on Patterson. If you have read several of his books you know what kind of writer he is (a great one) & how he writes. Why are you even complaining? Do you actually think someone is going to NOT READ IT because U say it was bad? NOPE!

Am a fan of Michael Bennett and his family tribe and have enjoyed many in the series, however, I thought this one was poor and filled with gratuitous violence. I will think long and hard before buying another Patterson book.

I've read rhe entire Micheal Bennett series, and was looking forward to this one. Very predictable and totally unrealistic. Vety poor followup to "I, Micheal Bennett". James Patterson in his lazy writing mode. Unfortunately, I do not recommend. I do not uunderstand all the 5 star reviews at all.

Predictable, redundant family dynamics (predictable), willnot read another Michael Bennett story line.

I am only half way through book hoping it will pick up. I am a devoted James Patterson reader but this one does not hold my spellbound.

I have read many of Patterson's books and have enjoyed most. It seems to me that the author has the idea that all of his writing has to consist of cute cliches and humor. That is enjoyable up to a point. However, the entire book is filled with them. I will carefully preview any other books from this author before buying them. They seem massed produced.

This is not one of Patterson's better books. In fact, the writing is pretty boring. The story moves slowly, with a lot of distractions. I didn't finish reading the book - it didn't hold my interest.

I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book. Definetly Patterson's best Michael Bennett book yet

I can't believe intelligent people still read Mr. Patterson. He has other people write his books and puts his name on them so that the uninformed will buy them based on his reputation. I stopped reading his "books" years ago when i found authors that actually write....Try reading Grissham,Scotoline and DeMille if you want great reads...

To those who can't read the book...archive it then reboot then unarchive it. Btw, I was looking forward to reading this book, but so far I can barely get myself to pick it up. If you like to read about Bennett's kids on a farm, well enjoy. worst Patterson book ever.
