This 24-year-old singer-songwriter has been anointed the third person in a pretty-face/pretty-voice trinity started by John Mayer and Jason Mraz, a billing he lives up to on this major-label bow. Jelen's winsome voice -- which recalls early Todd Rundgren on songs like the beckoning "Come On" -- is his biggest calling card, but he's also got a few aces up his musical sleeve. He plays one -- a surprisingly deft touch on violin -- on the melancholy "Setting of the Sun" and proves equally winning in his choice of covers, as borne out by a moody rendering of "Wicked Little Town" (from the rock musical Hedwig & the Angry Inch). A good bit of Give It All Away is given over to sugary pop balladeering, best illustrated by the overly fluffy, Elton-esque "Every Step," but when Jelen seizes the reins more forcefully, as on the soulful "She'll Hear You," he reveals both charisma and a solid set of pipes. That's more than enough reason to agree not to hate him just because he's beautiful.

Ben Jelen is the best. His songs have so much meaning, and they make you really think about your life and what to appreciate.

Ben Jelen is an amazing artist! He writes his own songs and plays his own instruments. I still can't believe that he taught himself how to play the guitar, piano, and the violin. He also has an awesome set of vocals! He's only 24 and has a great music career going for him. I don't think this is a one hit wonder, Jelen is going to be around for quite a while. Recently, I went out and bought his CD and highly recommend it!

Ben Jelen is a singer/songwriter, a dying breed. He does look like Jackson Browne, and he plays the piano like him, and he can sing almost as well. But Jackson he is not. He rocks on the piano and my God but he can play the violin. He can write some great lines, too. "I wish the night was longer/ I'm chasing the way we were/ I wish that I could catch us." Gee, I know how that feels. Listen, don't come into this expecting something perfect, because it's not. His music is hardly critically acclaimed and he still has a lot of growing to do. But he will grow. He will get better. And imagine what it will be like to say you were there from the start. Besides, music *shouldn't* be perfect.

I wouldn't classify myself as a real Ben Jellin fan, but his music is something that keeps me interested. My personal thought of him is that he is the male version of Tori Amos. He plays the piano in a fragile way, treats the piano in the same manner, but can still rock out if he wants to. But on this, I wouldn't go to far into comparing and contrasting him to Tori Amos beacuse she is on a completely different level with the piano. But, I am impressed with his work and I enjoy his music very much.

Wow, Ben Jelen's "Come On" is sooo good! He's plays the piano and he sings awesomely! I saw him on TRL and he was awesome! His music is soo good and a big relief from all that rap stuff that's going on!

I found myself buying Ben Jelen's cd after seeing him on tv recently, and I am so very glad that I did. he sings like no other and this cd is just absolutely wonderful and soothing from song 1 to 12. I am simply awed at his musical talent as a singer/composer and musician, and I love it so much that I cannot stop listening to it. what a great album and what else can I say but great, great, great. It's such a feel good type of music and his voice is heavenly.
