Martin—dubbed “the American Tolkien” by Time magazine—international acclaim and millions of loyal readers. This one-of-a-kind boxed set includes:
“One of the best series in the history of fantasy.”—Los Angeles Times
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season.
Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister—the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms.
Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki—whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys.
“Long live George Martin . . . a literary dervish, enthralled by complicated characters and vivid language, and bursting with the wild vision of the very best tale tellers.”—The New York Times

Very nice collectors books, WOULD RECOMMEND!!!!!! When I first got them I thought the print would be extremely tiny or the pages to thin and flimsy but thats NOT the case at all! Compared to the regular GOT books (7x4in) sold at B&N they are about the same size–only difference is the collectors books (6x4in) are an inch shorter but are about the same width The pages are NOT THIN and the print is NOT TINY its slightly smaller then the regular GOT books

This is a very nice set but book 3 has numerous pages missing (printed blank) - between pages 275 and 306, every other two pages is missing (i.e. 276 and 277 are blank, 278 and 279 are there, 280 and 281 are blank . . .). Obviously it takes a while to get this far into a box set of this size so it's too late to do anything about it.

Nice books but WAY TOO SMALL. I looked at the dimensions and it said height of 9 inches. That is not the height of these books. It is the width of the box.

Yeah these are nice quality but they are very small. I have trouble reading small print so I was hoping the collectors version would be a larger book but no, I can nearly palm the whole book.

For me? It's a perfect set. That said, I can understand why it would not be everyone's cup of tea. I have noticed that on some of the thicker ones the binding seems a bit...iffy, as in I'm not sure it would stand up to being passed around and read by multiple people. For your own private collection, however, this is a lovely addition. Small books and small text don't bother me one bit, and after having purchased the full-sized novels for my father I have to say-- this set is perfect for small spaces! If you're in a dorm or small apartment, and if you can stand to read small font, then this set is definitely worth the money.

I really wanted to feel the cover and look at the type before buying these but they were sealed in both bookstores I visited for this purpose. My 23 yr old found the type too small and we returned these for the mass market paperback set. The bookstore manager was a prince but I don't recommend these for reading - they do look good on a shelf though!

I like that these are small. The binding is good quality, it makes reading Storm of Swords much easier than handling the paperback. They kind of remind me of bibles because of their size and the paper is somewhat transparent.

Nice quality. As expected.
