Overview

A ground-breaking book that takes on skeptics from both sides of the cosmological debate, arguing that science and the Bible are not at odds concerning the origin of the universe.

The culmination of a physicist's thirty-five-year journey from MIT to Jerusalem, Genesis and the Big Bang presents a compelling argument that the events of the billions of years that cosmologists say followed the Big Bang and those of the first six days described in Genesis are, in fact, one and the same—identical realities described in vastly different terms. In engaging, accessible language, Dr. Schroeder reconciles the observable facts of science with the very essence of Western religion: the biblical account of Creation.

Carefully reviewing and interpreting accepted scientific principles, analogous passages of Scripture, and biblical scholarship, Dr. Schroeder arrives at a conclusion so lucid that one wonders why it has taken this long in coming. The result for the reader—whether believer or skeptic, Jewish or Christian—is a totally fresh understanding of the key events in the life of the universe.

I always suspected that both scientists and certain Christians were blindly arguing over things that were the both sides of the same coin. The scientific and linguistic revelations provided in this book (to a non-scientist) were exciting and made all the sense and difference in the world to my suspicions, proving me right. Scientists who dismiss the Bible are imposing unneeded ignorance upon themselves and their arguments, same for Christians who don't take a look at science because real science is their friend - not the fake science spun off from Darwin's impossible and never-proven (or provable "theory") but cutting edge science like Cosmology, microbiology, quantum physics that make Darwin a joke, a bad joke. This book undergirds the beginning of the opening of your mind to THE truth.

The author, who is both a physicist and a (Jewish) bible scholar, argues that the six-day creation story is not at odds with modern science. The book was recommended to me by a very religious friend, and I admit I was a bit skeptical about it, but I liked it. The author does not bend or reinterpret either Genesis or scientific evidence, but rather attempts to show that both are telling the same story in different language.

Having met Dr Shroeder in Israel I was anxious to read this book. Unable to find it, Barnes and Noble ordered it for me. Its deep and yet understandable. Renews my faith and wonder of my God. I definitely recommend it.
