I did something I had never done before.
I had a one-night stand.
Then in true me fashion, I left my phone at his house during my desperate venture to escape.
I tried hard to ignore the texts sent to my best friend's phone...

Amethyst: Sup, these selfies are cute as shit, but your lips looked better wrapped around my…

I did NOT text him back.
I DID vow to never speak of him, or that night again...
I'm Amethyst Lily Tatum, and up until this point, I'd managed to maintain a fairly low-key life. I'm what you would call a socially unacceptable hot mess. Instead of partying, I'm skating, flipping ollie's over guys who loved to underestimate me. Then I started college, met a wild girl who I would soon call my best-friend, had my first drunk one-night stand, left my phone at his house, and then, when I finally managed to meet my mom's new boyfriend, I found out that my one-night stand, was now my new stepbrother.

4 “ollie” Stars! The Review: Three times! Three times, I wanted to shut my ereader off and walk away. And I did. All. Three. Times! There were moments I hated the direction of this story. Then curiosity would nag and eat away at me until I picked it back up and was consumed once more! Frustrated and aggrieved. Those words describe half my feelings perfectly. Elated, excited and flat out enthralled are words to describe the rest of my feelings. It was dramatic, over the top and I loved it! So, obviously, the latter of the feels overruled the first, because I kept going and I’m so glad I did. Two words. Maddox Stone! Wowza. Talk about hot and a hot mess. Maddox and Amethyst were just that. A hot mess. And I’m not going to lie. I straight up almost lost my mind on this one. I loved it, don’t get me wrong, but there were so many twists and turns and so much push and pull that I wondered, many times, how they were going to ever get it together. One ending. The perfect ending. After all the push and pull, all the back and forth, all the drama and twists, the ending was perfect. Once I hit that last page, I saw how it all came together and how it flowed the way it was supposed to flow. Their journey was rough, filled with pitfalls and heartbreak and so much conflict it should have never worked out for them, but that ending made it all worth it. Maddox and Ame... Maddox - moody, intense and just this side of hero status. Oh and suuuuper sexy! Amethyst - tough, kind, I-dont-care-attitude that made her fascinating. I loved both of them. The Wrap Up: This was my first read by this author. But it WILL NOT be my last!! There was drama. I loved it. There was angsts. My heart soaked it up! There was sexy-times! My tummy was all aflutter. There was heart and soul. A solid story I couldn’t get enough of. So what does it all boil down to? The. Whole. Kitchen. Sink! Flip Trick was a hard read that kept me glued to the pages. Intense and outrageous characters that stole my heart. Overwhelming story that was filled with drama and more drama and those wonderful angsts I love so much. Stories that invoke those kinds of feelings is a story worth reading. Shedding some "feels" while nearly having fits is what good reads are all about. I have room on my list for the easy reads and I also have room on my list for hard reads that get my heart pumping and blood boiling. This book is in that list. I loved it and I’m already looking forward to a reread.

Amo Jones is an author slowly gaining recognition in Poland. Her "Silver Swan" arouses controversy as well as uncontrolled fascination. If you have read it, you know well what I mean. However, if not, I recommend you to read it soon. And now let's focus on the latest book - "Flip Trick"! Imagine that every day you stay away from parties, you just stick to the side and give into study to keep the scholarship. One day, at the instigation of a roommate, you succumb to temptation and go to an event organized in the area, based on which you are unexpectedly experiencing an adventure for one night. It is for you the first of its kind, so you try to let go. Then compilations start and what do you do with the fact that your one night stand boy is your future-to-be brother in law? Amethyst is confronting such a fact. That's all we get to know from the description. Is it all that awaits us in it? Definitely not! I cannot even count how many threads the author decided to put in one book. We start from one night adventure, move to the relationship between future siblings, problems standing in their way, until ... several years pass. That is why I have a problem with naming the category in which this book belongs, but finally let's name it new adult. Our characters, both Am and Maddox, and his two brothers study at the moment at univercity. That's the main base of actions and their behaviours. Deceptive guys and Amethyst have a past that is either painful or not entirely happy for them. Undoubtedly, we have here very expressive characters, realistic and filled with the desire to put life in their own way. If you've read "The Silver Swan" and "Marionette", you certainly know Amo Jones from her darker side. The feather of two conjugated titles was characterized by mystery, sometimes brutality, darkness and danger. In the case of "Flip Trick" we have the opportunity to try to get to know the author from the other side, more delicate and toned down, but certainly not less interesting! Amethyst is an extraordinary heroine. A pink-haired from a little girl is sucker for skateboarding, who has no respect for people's opinions, is full of sarcasm and at the same time nice. While reading, I liked her a lot, because she is a heroine with whom I would like to be friends in reality. Maddox is her constant opposite - he also does not care about the opinions of others, but he is not very nice. Unless we refer to his relations with the siblings and loved ones. Due to the chosen profession, i.e. the box, he is full of aggression and hot temperament. An extraordinary part of the book is an amazing playlist, which consists of fifty eight song and which takes about four hours! There are such great names as Eminem, Halsey, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Hozier and Drake. Listening to this playlist while reading is pure pleasure! I have to mention that the songs fit into the atmosphere of the book! Slowly approaching the end, because I'm talking and talking, a few words of summary. "Flip Trick" is an unusual and original story about the power of love, peppered with the malice of fate. Believe me, I do not remember that I read a book in which drama pushes the drama! Hardly the heroes have faced one event and you will not see what is coming next! While reading not even for a moment could I lower my guard and loosen myself. I want to recommend you "Flip Trick" because it is a book full of surprises, perfect for the summer!

Holy freaking cow! I feel like you just stabbed my heart and I'm only half way through. Absolutely freaking fantastic. I loved this novel. This author is known for being creative and this does not disappoint. Amethyst and Maddox have this up down love and devastating heartbreak through several years. It's not just a couple years in college. It goes way back. When you think you have their storyline mapped out, the author plot twists the entire novel to gut you open again. I can't dig in to the twists and turns because it gives too much away. However I will say this, it's worth staying up and losing sleep over. Another brilliant novel that holds you in the anguish and sorrow.

I freaking loved this book from beginning to end. Amo Jones won me over completely with her last couple of books, her style is phenomenal and she quickly became one of my favorite authors. Anyway, I loved it but I only could give it 4.5 half stars for two reasons. One of them I’m only going to get to later but the main reason was the following. This story frustrated me to all hell, and I couldn’t decide that it was a great thing or an annoying thing about the book because it could be either. Is it great that the author could create a fictional story that got me so emotionally engaged that the book generated these kind of strong feeling in me. Or is it annoying that she made her characters act so stupid in the first place. So you see my dilemma, right? The writing is really great but if you read anything from Amo Jones from the last couple of years then you are not surprised. It’s fluid, easy to read and also the emotions seep off the pages. It has a complex storyline with interesting characters, so simple everything I like in my reads. Honestly, at first, like for the first 45% of the book I was a bit surprised with the way the plot went because everything I read from the author so far had a pretty dark and gritty twist from the very begging and here it came into play pretty late. But I don’t want to spoil anything, so moving on. The plot starts out as a straight girl meets guy and they had amazing chemistry thing, sure with a couple of hiccups and family drama along the way but you get it. A college romance at its peak. However, then the other shoe drops and things get more emotional and gritty as I expected form the author. It was amazing and frustrating to no end. The characters made some insanely illogical choices and that caused the most of the conflicts between them. They were simply stupid, that’s all. Still my heart broke for them a couple of times. The romance is a awesome in this book. It is a heartbreaking, soul-mate kind of situation where life always steps between the two of them. It was beautiful, complex, tear inducing and just simply good. It helped that the main characters had amazing chemistry. Let’s see, Amethyst was an interesting and unusual main character. I loved her blunt, raw and honest character. She has some unique interest, thou I found her desire to be an actor strange when she had trouble being in the center of attention. I don’t an that you can’t be an actress if you have anxiety and such it was just a bit strange how matter of fact she handled acting with her issues. Anyway she had a pretty awesome view of life, and I liked her personality. I just hope the author used her skating talent more than a prop to establish her tomboyish ways. Then there was Maddox. I liked the idea of him as well, thou he had a bit of an ulterior motive at the beginning and also he was rougher and his temper and hang-ups were the cause of the couple suffering for the most part. In theory his ideas of how a family should work and taking responsibility for his was a grand idea but in their situation it was clear that it is simply doomed from the beginning and he is only causing pain for those around him. Anyway they were just overall too stubborn to calm down and talk rationally. I also liked the secondary character, especially the brothers but I wish we saw more of them along the way. I felt that the way the plot line was speeding on and with the main focus an Maddox and Ame, we just didn’t get enough opportunity to get to k

Absolutely LOVED this read! I felt it was a pure blend of real life, angst and the fast-paced action that tends to follow when you promise yourself that you will absolutely never do something. Of course, BOOM, it happens or the trail leading to it takes place and everything goes mental. That is exactly this book. Two people, their surrounding friends, life and everything in between swirl into madness after a one night stand that changes everything. I loved the main characters and found that they were given plenty of detail, really making it easy to connect with them, on both a personal and story level. It meant that I was definitely unable to put the book down, which I am not even remotely upset about! The pace matched the madness of the story well. You bounced about, wondering if their lives would ever be the same. You were filled with joy, then sadness, then just wondering if they’d ever catch a break after one slip-up, but isn’t that just how life is?? Overall, this was excellent. A true Amo read and definitely one I recommend, especially if you want to have an exciting, real and truly fun read.

Another great book from Amo Jones, her romances are never sweet or fluffy. More like hot sexy, and edgy. We meet Maddox and Amethyst when there are seven, but don’t expect a normal romance, because even though there is a deep connection between them. Nothing goes right for them, but she finds a family with plenty of siblings even when she leaves college and goes to LA. Amethyst is a great female character who loves skateboarding and skating, and never likes wearing make-up and dresses. Keeps to herself and can’t see what Maddox sees in her, and only has one friend at college her roommate. If you like your romances darker and edgy this is the author for you. I loved it!

Love and Donuts This story was EVERYTHING! I don't want to give anything away, because the journey is the best part. Maddox meets Amethyst at a bar. And one wild night, leads to a drunken one-night stand...until they meet again. It's about to get complicated, because Ame just found out that her one night stand was her stepbrother. She's the girl with pink hair who likes to spend her time studying and at the skate part. Not a girly girl in anyway and just doesn't care what other people think. Maddox comes from a well-known family with a whole lot of money. But he's in school and also building his name on the MMA circuit. He's all about just having fun and no strings, except for his family. Their connection transcends time. Two souls that always knew one another. Their timing was not always right, but they would eventually find their way. Their story made me smile, got me angry but also broke my heart at times. Something that was meant to be, but getting there was a struggle and a test of their bond. I absolutely adored Maddox and all his alpha, protectiveness. He was sexy, sweet and loyal to a fault. Ame was beautiful and strong. I loved Maddox's brothers and their interconnected story lines. This book left me reeling with all of the obstacles these characters had to overcome. Secrets, deception and lies never go over well. And those on the receiving end always suffer the most. Maddox and Ame were two halves of a whole. Their souls connected long ago. It just took life time to catch up so that they could finally find their way home.

I've read some other books by this author so I had high expectations. Thankfully the author exceeded my expectations as I loved this story. This is a wonderful read. I literally sat down and didn't look up until I'd finished it. Amethyst and Maddox are two brilliant characters. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. This is a crazy read. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me gripped. A refreshing storyline. Can't wait to read more from this author.

My first book from this author, and my last, unfortunately. I'm giving this 1 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. The summary sounded promising, but this book was not my cup of tea. The beginning was probably my favorite part, and then it went downhill from there. This book was like a soap opera on steroids. Honestly, it felt like the author was thinking 'what other over-the-top plot twist can I introduce', and I was done with all the twists the story took after the first couple. I don't think I really liked any of the characters. Kennedy was probably my favorite of them all though. Amethyst kind of annoyed me, and Maddox was not my type AT ALL like 95% of the time. The book also had a lot of repetition. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say that the characters, especially Amethyst, kept saying/thinking the same things constantly throughout the book. A little repetition isn't bad, but this felt like too much. One thing that threw me off is that Maddox is supposed to be her stepbrother, but I don't recall ever seeing their parents marry, they were just dating. Maybe I missed that part though? This was a fast enough read, but I just didn't enjoy it like I was hoping I would. Oh well, you can't win with every book. A lot of people seem to enjoy it, so I might be the black sheep for this one. The skating parts were interesting, and unique, so points for that.

Flip Trick has a lot going on, from the start. This is the first book I’ve read of Amo Jones and let me tell you there is so much going on in the first few chapters; it was making my head spin. I was initially, drawn to this story because of the book cover and there was skateboarding. That’s what I grew up around. But I realized quickly it wasn’t going to be like anything that I had expected. Maddox and Amethyst have a history together that they don’t even realize till a little bit more into the book. In all honesty, I couldn’t connect to these characters. There was so much drama going on; things were happening. I could even call it before it happened. I liked that fact that Ame was a skateboarder. But I think it would have been fun if it was part of the majority of the story. In all honesty, it was quite the struggle to get through. I think Jones had a great idea. But I think if she left out the majority of the drama that was going on. It would have been better. I didn’t have that urgency that you need to finish the book. I don’t know if this is her usual style. But I would give her books another chance. Overall, I have to give this One Boundless Star.

OMG!!!! There are just no words that can properly describe how AMAZING Amo Jones’ writing is, but I am going to try. If you’ve read any of Amo’s books before you know that she is the freaking QUEEN of head trips and even though Flip Trick is not dark like her other books, Amo brings her A game in making you think the story is going one way but then takes it down a path you didn’t even know existed! This book had so many twists and turns you’re going to feel like you’re on a roller-coaster ride (in the best possible way) and you’ll never want it to end. It gave me all the ‘feels’ that we all love to get in emotional reads; the adrenaline rush, the butterflies, the pounding heart, and even some tears. I absolutely loved this angsty standalone with Maddox and Amethyst and I cannot wait for more from Amo!

Talk about a hot mess! Flip Trick is my favorite kind of guilty pleasure...stepbrother romance! Now before you get all judgemental and making a squicky face, they aren't your typical relationship. Actually they are far from it! Flip Trick is an emotional rollercoaster that makes the turns at a speed that guarantees whiplash, nausea, and tears in your eyes. I would wager that a headache builds too. The stress of their story, the tension, and loss is enough to drive a reader to drink. Too bad I read those parts at 6AM. Family, friends, and love are all over this story. Soulmates and a connection so powerful that fighting it leaves marks are the driving force of this ever after. Oh and best exit strategy for a one night stand- ever! (Falls over laughing) Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood

4.5 Stars I love the books this author comes up with and each and every time I can’t wait to buy it to support this talented woman!! I do have a few things that I didn’t like about this book so I hope no one gets upset but the anticipation of this book, the build up to several…. SEVERAL shocking moments had me covering my eyes and mouth nervous to continue reading, but was well worth the read!! As mentioned previously I love this authors work and reading about Amethyst and Maddox was incredibly sexy, annoying, swoon worthy, but all scared the shit out of me. These two characters had me back and forth throughout the book! I love the way Amo ties several shockingly nail biting moments together flawlessly, but (and here’s where I might get in trouble) I think it may have been too much. **hides** You get so many twists from this book that and I know Amo’s writing but for me it was too much craziness. I live off Amo’s words because she has such powerful things to say and even in her darkest series I find myself so wrapped up in the story I didn’t want to t end…. Unfortunately for me this book was just a few too many things that the last twist nearly had me stopping the book. I am a huge fan, please don’t get me wrong, of Amo and this book but this one aspect I did not find appealing. After getting to the end and seeing how everything was tied together I can understand the extra twist but I almost didn’t finish because I just wanted to scream and yell at Maddoxx and Amethyst! They made me so angry so many times I couldn’t see straight!! My biggest love throughout the book has to be Talon! (Swoon!!!) Thank you for sharing the amazing words you write and I hope what I said doesn’t effect anything about you or your writing because usually I would LOVE all the twists like in your other series but this book didn’t need it. I am so proud of this book and can’t wait for you to share it with everyone!!

After I read the synopsis of Flip Trick and talked with my blogger friend about Amo Jones’ writing, I knew I needed to introduce myself to Jones’ storytelling and the jacked up but amazing characters she creates. But even though I was forewarned that Jones’ stories take readers on an emotional rollercoaster EVERY. SINGLE. TIME, I still was not prepared for what the plot twists and the angst would do to my emotional state; for the duration of Maddox and Ame’s story, my stomach was in knots and my whole body was tightly wound and that never changed, even at the end when the story was brought to an amenable resolution. I don’t think I can truly capture just how jacked up Flip Trick’s storyline is without giving away content, so I’m just going to discuss the characters and the plot in a general sense, offering insights into my experience reading the book and how my mind and my heart were both tortured and ecstatic due to the chaotic complexity of this story. The first thing I need to make clear is that I loved Amo Jones’ writing; it’s easy to see how much of herself she puts in every word she crafts and that the trials and tribulations her characters face are what they need to endure in order to grow as people and in order to understand that life is difficult and the choices they make affect more people than just themselves. I can only imagine how strung out Jones was at the conclusion of Flip Trick due to the back and forth between Amethyst and Maddox and the way they directed their stories to be told. It was exhausting reading about all the ups and downs and highs and lows that these two faced throughout the course of their sometimes dysfunctional and highly emotional relationship, so to have them inside her head demanding that honest perspectives be used, no matter how gritty, fucked up, or unfair they may seem had to be beyond draining. But while I can handle the presentation of characters’ raw and real circumstances, what I find difficult is when part of their journey feels too predictable and/or the reasons behind certain actions aren’t fully or clearly explained. Now, not all readers will feel the same way that I do when it comes to Ame and Maddox’s story; I’m sure some will not suspect anything as they read the first part of the book, but early on, I inferred what the conflict would be and the fallout that would occur due to those circumstances and I wished it would have gone in a different direction. Now don’t get me wrong, there were aspects of the story I never saw coming and I could have never predicted just how long it would take for Ame and Maddox to find their way back to each other because they kept getting hit with obstacles that seemed insurmountable, but it took me a bit to get over the fact that I had called the main conflict early on because it just didn’t sit well with me given the connection that Ame and Maddox were supposed to have and how easily they seemed to let it go. Despite my issue with some aspects of the plot line, though, I clearly saw what all of the other characters saw when it came to Ame and Maddox and their pull to each other. It’s rare to have that kind of connection from an early age, especially when a shitload of situations occur that push them in opposite directions for quite some time, but their bond was always there…just beneath the surface, waiting for the right time for it to make itself known and hopefully remain out in the open, even if things went awry again.

Amo Jones... That crazy Kiwi author... Jesus Christ!!! What an amazing ride this woman has taken me on, filled with so many twists and turns, I got major book related whiplash. I always have a certain high expectation when reading an Amo Jones book, and every single time, it exceeds it and completely blows it out of the water. It’s not any different with Flip Trick. The main characters, the side characters, the BIG MAJOR TWISTS, loved every single little bit. Amethyst is a woman who has this IDGAF personality and I absolutely loved that about her. The reason for her pink hair is because “screw society and it’s standards and norms.” I adored that! She was one tough B. A perfect compliment to our DELICIOUSLY DANGEROUS Maddox. Uugghhh, that man... I saw sides of him I honestly didn’t think I was going to see. The character development for EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER was on point! Jones doesn’t leave anyone behind. It was so great to see not only the main H/h, but the supporting roles grow, change, adapt. And, that’s one of the things that I always enjoy about Amo Jones’ books. You never get stuck in a story that simply revolves around two people, it revolves around everyone. Flip Trick is going to snatch you up, tape your eyes open, ignore the rest of the world, stay up till 6am, gasp so hard you’re going to choke on your spit, and then release you AFTER you get to the end... or, maybe that just happened to me, but that’s how good this story was. I can’t wait to see what else is in store *cough*cough* ‘MANIK
