Overview
How Jesus the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee came to be recognized as the Son of God.
How can Jesus a Galilean Jew who was humiliated and brutally crucified for claiming to be the Messiah, in the context of the Jewish feast of the Passover, have been proclaimed and accepted as the Son of God? How might such a Christology have developed, in theological terms, from the Old Testament?
This book discusses this question in terms of the three main Christological titles: the Davidic messianic King, the suffering Servant of Deutero-Isaiah, and the Son of Man figure in Daniel, and examines how these distinct Old Testament concepts are related to each other through the frame of the Exodus (the death of the firstborn son in the context of the Passover) and the New Exodus.
Kyungu Ra was born in South Korea, 1963 and has a background in the Presbyterian Church. After studying at Chongshin Theological Seminary in the South Korea, he completed hi MTh at the University of Glamorgan and his PhD at the University of Wales, Lampeter, UK. He is married to Mijung Gil and has two grown daughters (Haein and Chongin). Dr Ra is now a missionary and lecturer at Calvin Theological College in Tanzania.
