She spent years building walls around her heart ... but he plans to tear them down.

Gorgeous women pass through Kane Harmon's beach town as reliably as the tides. He knows the type; shallow, slumming for the summer, enjoying the sun and the novelty before returning to their real lives. But Rosewood Bay and the garage he owns are Kane's real life and he makes the most of it.

When Kane rescues Halley Ward from the side of the road, he's determined to get to know the mysterious, solitary woman. She's beautiful, wealthy, and the loneliest person on the beach. She says she isn't interested in him – or anything outside of her painting and her bungalow. Kane knows a lie when he hears one. Soon, bringing the color back into her world is his life's mission.

Until the past meets the present. Until their two worlds collide. Until it's her turn to leave her black and white world behind and live in Kane's, with its risks and love.

star review Fearless (Rosewood Bay # 1) by Carly Phillips Ms.Phillips is off to a flying start with her latest series; this book got and kept my attention from the start and I read it in one sitting. Kane Harmon lives and works in Rosewood Bay running his garage business. He has no time for a committed relationship after being burnt before. When he takes his tow truck out to rescue a customer he is shocked to find the woman is Halley Ward, a woman he used to protect against school bullies in his youth. He had no idea that Halley was still in Rosewood Bay. Halley is lives the life of a hermit, distant from her family, she lives a life of solitude near the beach. From the moment Kane sets eyes on her again, he is attracted to her and is determined to bring Halley back to life, for her to re connect with her family and with life itself. Of course the only drawback to this plan is that Halley is not interested, or so she says. As Kane slowly chips away at the brick wall she has surrounded herself with, Halley becomes more and more intrigued with him and slowly opens up. I fell hard and fast for Kane, he is so kind and caring and swoon worthy; honestly I challenge anyone not to fall for Kane.Halley has overcome so much and I really was cheering for her to get her happily ever after. I look forward to reading the next book in thee series. Congratulations Ms.Phillips you have another winning series on your hands.

A savvy mechanic meets a shy artist. She intrigues him so he takes steps to get to know her. She’s not interested because of bad experiences while in the foster care program. He finally gets her attention after he starts repairing her deck. Get the book and read it.

Only 130 pages. Seemed like a child wrote it.

I liked the characters, but the pace of the story just made everything seem shallow and rushed. I also think it would have been better had the author toned it down on the "dick" comments.

Fearless is a great contemporary romance by Carly Phillips. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Phillips has delivered a well-written book and furnished it with great characters. Kane is a mechanic with his own garage in Rosewood Bay. Halley is an almost recluse artist. Kane and Halley's story is loaded with drama, bits of humor and sizzle. Halley is a bit angsty, but not so much to ruin the story. I enjoyed reading Fearless and look forward to reading more from Carly Phillips in the future. Fearless is book 1 of the Rosewood Bay Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Pretty good. Heroine was a little too whiny for me, but overall good. Just not one of my favorites.

There hasn't been a book by Ms. Phillips that I didn't enjoy, some more than others of course. This felt different than all the others I have read and I enjoyed that even more. Life is filled with so much drama and angst that I love to fall into a book without any. I loved Kane and Halley together. I can't wait for Breathe.

This romance features Kane Harmon and Halley Ward. These two knew each other in high school where he was always protecting her from bullies. Now, years later, she’s even more reclusive than he is. There’s definitely attraction between them but she’s extremely wary of being hurt. She had a rough time in the foster care system and Kane wants to be the man who brings sunshine back into her life. This is a little different than what I’m used to from this author. It was a good read with a good romance but I couldn’t find the climax of the story. Even so, I look forward to reading book 2.

“Maybe it was fate that her car broke down and he’d been the one to answer the call, bringing them together again after all these years.” Fearless is the first book the all new, exciting Rosewood Bay Series. Told from dual points of view, Fearless follows the story of Kane and Halley. From the moment Kane runs into Halley the fateful night that her car breaks down, he is hooked. He tries and tries to get her go out with her, but she just isn’t interested. Halley is closed off and enjoys her life of solitude. And it’s the life that Halley leads that makes Kane even more determined to bring her back to life…. Fearless pulled me in from the very first page. I was intrigued by the life Halley lived and the decisions she made. I wanted to know what happened to her and what made her this way. And Kane wasn’t perfect either. He had his own share of issues, but I loved his determination when it came to Halley. He wasn’t going to take no for an answer. He was determined to win her over and make her live again. These two characters couldn’t be more opposite when it came to their life choices, but that just made me love them even more. Overall, I thought Fearless was a great start to this new series. I easily read this book in just one sitting. I thought the characters were fun and intriguing. I really enjoyed Kane and Halley’s story and enjoyed watching the two of them try to figure things out on their journey to a happily ever after.

**Received ARC for a fair and honest review** Fearless is the first book in the Rosewood Bay series. This is Halley and Kane's story. I enjoyed this book, but it stagnated a few times where I needed to force myself to continue which is why I rated this book at 4 stars. Overall I did enjoy it, I enjoyed the storyline, Halley at times was a bit too weak of a character for me though, and I absolutely loved Kane. Halley and her sister Phoebe ended up in foster care when they were young because their father had been KIA while in Afghanistan and her mother turned to drugs. Unfortunately they were separated and didn't have the easiest time. When their Aunt Joy found them, they were already teenagers but took them in. While out driving Halley's auto breaks down and when she calls for a tow, a familiar face from high school is the one to show up. Once you get through the areas where the story stagnates, the story is enjoyable and moves, but Halley makes some bad decisions that really make you want to smack her and say what the heck is wrong with you. I like the premise for these stories and am very interested to see if Breathe unfolds a little smoother with less stagnation. Hope this helps. Happy Reading!!!

This is the first book in Carly's new series and it started off with a bang. I loved Kane and Halley. It's amazing the beautiful heart Halley has with how life could have made her really bitter. This book really pulled at my heart and brought out a lot of emotions. Kane and Halley both can sympathize with one another because they both have dysfunctional families. I gobbled this book right up because the story hit me right in my heart. I so wanted Halley to get her HEA and I couldn't have picked anyone better then Kane. Kane has a big heart himself and he has a perfect way about himself with how he treats Halley. I can't wait for the next book.

4 1/2 STARS! Heartwarming, sinful and downright decadent! Carly Phillips has hit another one out of the park with the first book in her new Rosewood Bay series! I was drawn in immediately to the sexy mechanic's life, then once he and Halley crossed paths, the attraction and pull between them was flaring quickly. The characters both have a boatload of history and issues that weigh on them heavily, but they find that time together is refreshing and even healing as they let their guard down and let the other in. Great kick-off to the series with a complex back story bringing intrigue and compassion alive in our mind quickly. A nice foundation of characters, each with a story of their own just waiting to be told. Looking forward to more to come in the series! Mechanic Kane Harmon is feeling washed up. He's burned out on the rich socialites passing through his beach town for the summer just looking for a fling to entertain themselves with. The responsibilities of holding his family together are wearing thin. He just really needs something more, and when he runs into a familiar face while answering a call to help a stranded vehicle on the side of the road, he feels like a breath of fresh air just walked into his life! Artist Halley Ward keeps to herself a lot, so it's been years since she's run into her old high school acquaintance Kane. He was always kind to her, and she appreciated that in a time when she felt like the world was against her. She prefers life hidden away and alone, so she's hesitant when Kane sets his sights on wooing her out of her comfort zone, but the more time she spends with him, the more she wants to actually live for a change! She has an uncomfortable past that she wears like a shield around her heart and doesn't exactly think she's cut out for a relationship, but Kane just might be the guy to convince her otherwise!

What a perfect way to start a brand new series! I absolutely adored Fearless!!!! Halley and Kane were so perfect for each other!!! They made me laugh, cry, swoon and my heart beat quicker. Their story was full of ups and downs and had me rooting for them from the very beginning. Great read that I highly recommend!

This was a fantastic read. Halley and Kane are both facing issues in their personal life, but bring out a fun side in each other. Halley is a bit shy and withdrawn at the beginning of the book, but she is still a strong heroine. Kane was sexy, and Halley seemed to bring out this sweet side of him. It had the perfect amount of drama, and after getting a glimpse at who the couple is for the next book, I can’t wait!! A great must read!!

Halley was raised in foster homes after her mother split. When her Aunt found out she rescued not only Halley but her sister Phoebe. Now, with money at her disposal, a nice cottage on the water and her painting to keep her occupied she's content. Kane, a garage owner mechanic is trying to make it with a gambling father and a sister who's husband left and with a child of her own. He's used to summer tourists wanting quick flings but he's tired of it. When Halley's car breaks down and he shows up to tow it, he remembers her and wants nothing more than to "get to know her". Halley has walls built up but he's a patient man. Just as things are starting to progress in the right direction, Halley's mom shows up. Newly out of prison she wants to make amends with her daughters but is that all? Halley has some battles to face and self esteem that needs some help. Can Kane give her what she needs or will she retreat to her self imposed lifestyle after being taken again by her mother? A wonderful read. Carly has certainly done it again. Cannot wait for the remainder of the series.

Sometimes authors take a chance to write something out of their comfort zones, all because the story won't leave them alone. So, we have Fearless. Fearless is about a young woman who is just living her life. She tries not to make waves, she just living. However, life usually throws a wrench in the way, and we have to decide if we continue on the current course or take a chance. This is what we find with Halley Ward in Fearless. We see Halley going through the motions of life, and not really living until Kane Harmon comes to her rescue. Kane kind of plants himself into Halley's life. He sees someone is yearning to break free, but not sure how to help. Halley doesn't realize she wants to break free from the monotony of life. However, she's holding back, because her past. Honestly, I wish Carly went into a little more in depth of Halley's past, because I probably would have been a little more sympathetic to her fear of being in a relationship. So, there were times I was frustrated with her. I did like Kane and his willingness to stick it out for her. Yes, there ups and downs in this story. One of the downs almost breaks them apart for good. However, Fearless is a good story. It's a little different from Carly's usual books, but it's a good. I like how they can overcome past to get to happy ending. Overall, I liked Fearless. A fairly strong story, and I wish there was a little more depth with Halley's background, but overall good. I like how Carly went out of her comfort zone, and took on a challenge of something a little more different. A good read. Copy provided by author via RockStar PR Rating: 3 1/2 Stars

Kane Harmon is a sweet protective brother, uncle, son, man. He owns his own auto garage where his father also works. Kane is a man that doesn’t do relationships because of 1 summer “relationship” that turned out to be just a fling. Now Kane pretty much keeps to himself and when needing a woman’s comfort seeks it in another town. Halley is a quite woman that keeps to herself and mostly just stays home and doesn’t “hang out” like her sister does. Halley has had a rough life being in foster care as a child because her mother preferred drugs and a man over her and her sisters which is why Halley is as she is. Halley is also a painter that is hoping to be picked up one day by a New York Gallery. When Halley is broke down on the side of the road and Kane’s garage was called for the tow, Kane and Halley are both shocked to see the other. Kane and Halley have a history from their school day years. Kane being the protective one when Halley was new in town and being picked on. Unfortunately, that’s as far as their friendship went. Now all grown up, Kane is as intrigued with Halley as he has always been. She is different that the other women around town. Unfortunately, Halley is not interested in Kane or any other man. She prefers her quite life. Kane is not one to just give up on something that he wants, and Halley is definitely something/someone that he wants. He figures he has to figure a way to get close to her. Kane starts by agreeing to fix Halley’s deck. From the 1st day of working on her deck, Halley is more open that when he picked her up on the side of the road. Day after day, Kane is able to talk to Halley and find out a little more about her. Day by day Kane is able to get Halley to feel comfortable enough to open up. He begins to break down halls that Halley has had up since being a little girl. This is a beautiful story. Fall in love with Kane and Halley.

*3.75 stars* Overall this was a good read - I love the quiet heroines (maybe because I identify with them so much) and for the most part really enjoyed Halley. There were a few things that made me want to reach through the book and shake her though so this is probably why this just didn't quite reach the 4 star mark - it was close though! Loved Kane too - great strong alpha character who just won't take Halley's self doubt and let it ruin things between them. Really good chemistry between them and even though it was a bit of a slow burn it wasn't too slow and the length of the book was satisfying. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is the way to begin a series! Kane and Halley are a perfect match for each other. Kane was surprised to find her when he answered the call for a stranded car and find out she still lived in the area after they had been in high school together. From that chance meeting it is obvious there is chemistry between them even if Halley is quite insecure and shy but lucky for her Kane is not to be deterred. All it takes is some determination and neither could stop the eventual fall. Halley had a lot to overcome and working through her fears and insecurities but Kane was just what she needed. This was well written with great characters. I can hardly wait to see what is going to happen with Phoebe! **Received this ARC for review**

This is the first book in a new series. So saying, I expected more drama and angst. It was a typical HEA but I felt the ending was rushed. I love Kane Harmon. He is gentle, kind, loving, and understanding and I don't know any man like that in real life. Even dealing with his father's addiction and lapse, he does not get angry. Frustrated yes, but not angry. So I would like to order one of him for me please. Halley seemed wishy washy to me. In one second she was strong and then the next she was weak. Foster care is known to leave lasting effects on a person, but considering she has a strong family and went through extensive therapy, I expected more from her. With all of that being said, the book was good. The story was interesting, especially with the family dynamics. I'm looking forward to reading the next book about Phoebe and seeing her personality come to life.

Be brave and read This is The first standalone book in the new series from Carly Phillips and she has not disappointed with this book. Kane Harmon is a mechanic that used to stand up for Halley Ward when they were growing up. Halley had a horrible childhood with being in the foster care. Kane had his own issues with his fathers gambling issues. Now with both having to deal with demons from their past and seeing if they can make a relationship work with each other. Carly Phillips has again written a great story that you can’t put down and know your waiting for the next book in this series breathe.
