“Once he met her, it was and always would be Lyla.”
They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break.
And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll.
Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the 80s and 90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history—dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze—the Roadmasters had one touchstone.
Preacher’s muse, the love of his life, and the band’s moral compass, from the beginning, Lyla is along for the ride.
But with fame and acclaim in their grasp, they’ve entered the fast lane.
And they didn’t know it, but they were headed for a crash.

About the Author
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Loved this book! My heart was racing almost the whole time! I have missed the suspense from her more recent books but this book brought it back. Could not put it down, I just loved Lyla and Preachers story.
preacher and lyla, preacher and the band, and Kristen Ashley for MUSIC !! All full, rich and heartbreaking as well as heartfelt. characterizations spot on. This will be a go-to re-read, for sure!! Rock On!!
it’s 248 AM and I just finished Fast Lane by Kristen Ashley. I received the ARC last week, but as I started reading it, I realized what I was reading was magnificent (I know that is saying a lot, but there is not an adequate word to describe it). I wanted to stop. I wanted to savor it. I needed to stop and acknowledge THIS MOMENT. I know that what I was reading could only be experienced ONCE. I would only have the heart-racing, heart breaking, fall in love feeling ONCE. After each re-read (I know I will be reading this one over and over until I can’t read anymore). I want to remember those feelings in this moment. This is not your typical Kristen Ashley book. If you go in thinking that - you will be disappointed. You need to go in with an open mind & an open heart. Trust that she will take you on a journey and will handle you with care. She will wring you dry with the emotions of family that isn’t always blood, a once in a lifetime love, and the heartbreak that can take it all away. I spent most of the book with my heart in my throat. I felt I needed a cigarette and bourbon to get through it all too many times to count. Everything that these characters felt, as I watched it all unfold, I felt every emotion in my soul. With Fast Lane, Kristen Ashley shows us why she is the Queen and how her mind knows no bounds. I have always been and thought I always would be #TeamWalker, but then I met Preacher. Gahhhhh, Preacher you have ruined me for all other men. I wish I could tell you about Preacher, but I’m going to let you experience that all on your own. You can thank me later! This book is riveting, raw, and poignant - it captures the human spirit of going after your dreams no matter the cost and how secrets of one can poison the whole group. Preacher, Jesse, Dave, Tim, Shawn, Tom, and Lyla made a family, each for different reasons, that in a band environment had the power to destroy them all. The healing power of what music can make you feel is a beautiful thing. These characters will gut you with how they deal with life, the band, the brotherhood, and the one woman who held them all together in the best way possible. Lyla is not what you think. She will surprise you & she will haunt you. It is 4:00 AM and I need to shut up. Lyla, Preacher McCade & The Roadmasters - I am mighty pleased to have met you all. I already miss you all. I feel the need for a re-read already! Kristen Ashley thank you for stepping out of the box. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent! Your books have been my saving grace more times than I can explain. Thank you for this refreshing new style of storytelling that I wasn’t sold on, but you changed my mind and had me hanging on to every word. This book was more than I could ever wanted or imagined. Thank you for Preacher. To me, he’s your best male to date and that is saying a lot. Anyone who comes after him will have big shoes to fill. But, seriously, Fast Lane is why I love reading. To be transported and immersed so deeply into this fictional world is not easy feat, but you KNOCKED. IT. OUT. OF. THE. PARK. Well Done!
I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. If all KA books were like this, I definitely wouldn't read them.It was very, very preachy several times. There were several plot holes/loose ends (a second book?) It definitely showed the author's viewpoint on several current social and political hot spots. While I didn't disagree with the author, I read to get away from current hot topics. Real life has enough turmoil around these subjects. Sometimes, I need a break. Please, don't put them in books. it ruins the book and my enjoyment of the book.
I love Kristen Ashley, this was a totally different style from her other books but. I loved it! one reason i love her books is she does change styles and you get drawn into another one of her fantastic stories. Fast Lane is awesome..
I am a HUGE Kristen Ashley fan. I read her books over an over. Not this one. Awful. Devastatingly terrible. Reads like a really bad documentary script. I don't even have the words to say how big of a fail this is. Praying this isn't a trend. Please don't write another one like this.
