A Family Affair is where it all began...Heartache, betrayal, Forgiveness, Redemption... all wrapped up in the people you will love to love, and those you will love to hate.

When Christine Blacksworth's larger-than-life father is killed on an icy road in Magdalena, New York, a hundred miles from the "getaway" cabin he visited every month, she discovers a secret that threatens everything she's always held to be true. Her father has another family that includes a mistress and a daughter. Determined to uncover the truth behind her father's secret life, Christine heads to Magdalena, prepared to hate the people who have caused her to question everything she thought she knew about her father. But what she finds is a woman who understands her, a half sister who cherishes her, and a man who could love her if she'll let him. The longer she's around them, the more she questions which family is the real one...??

About the Author

Mary Campisi writes emotion-packed books about second chances. Whether contemporary romances, women's fiction, or Regency historicals, her books all center on belief in the beauty of that second chance.

Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.

When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five young adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab mix, Cooper, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

Mary has published with Kensington, Carina Press, and The Wild Rose Press.

This 557 page nook book was very good. It is for adult readers. There is explicit sexual content and situations. It was well written, edited and had great characters. There was a great flow to the story line. It was easy to follow the characters and action and was just complicated enough to hold my interest without being over whelming. I often have to lay a book down and a long period may pass before I can continue my current reading project. With this book, I did not have to do any back tracking, I was able to start reading exactly where I left off, which was very nice. It was a bit predictable in places, but had some surprizes as well. This was not a typical romance. It was about a man in a loveless marriage, torn between two families and two ways of life. When he is killed in an auto accident, his daughter unravels her father's life to discover who he really was. In the process she also discovers, who she is and where her destiny will be. This a great heart warming novel. AD

This was a great book! This is the first book I’ve read from the author, and I love her writing. The characters are developed very well and it was interesting to read how Mary balances the characters with the plot, without making the book too bogged down with details. While there are moments where the storyline is unrealistic, the issues of family secrets, alliances, and expectations, readers will certainly understand those family dynamics. The story is about 500+ pages, but it sure does go fast!

Great story. I dont understand the post that said there was explicit sexual scenes. There was no explicit sex scenes. This was a beautiful story and will definately be in my keeper file! Highly recommend.

One family wasn't enough for this man, but he probably didn't expect things to turn out quite as they did when he was in a fatal auto accident one snowy night. There are some unexpected twists and turns in this story, and I was very surprised by the ending.

A FAMILY AFFAIR takes your traditional family ideals and twists it about so that you can’t help but admit that family is determined by more than DNA. Mary Campisi draws the reader into this story by invoking a variety of emotions, everything from fury and disappointment to genuine love and acceptance and incorporating enough suspenseful elements that I read the entire story in one sitting. The tension between Nate and Christine is completely understandable since he’s trying to protect his family and Christine is doing the same for hers. One of the things that unite them is Lily and her easy acceptance of them. I really hadn’t expected this story to be such an emotional journey and honestly I think a lot of its appeal has to do with Lily and the innocent way she views life and the people around her. The whole time Christine’s trying to come to grips with her father’s death and the reality of another family, there’s a whole other drama unfolding in her normal life. And I don’t say drama lightly because it seems her mother really likes to be theatrical when it comes to manipulating her family. Fortunately Uncle Harry sees right through her and isn’t above using a bit of blackmail to keep her in line. Mary Campisi’s A FAMILY AFFAIR is a delightful story that pulls at the heartstrings with its intriguing characters, stunning revelations, and an emotional rollercoaster as the two halves of Charles’ life collide in a ferocious upheaval. Of course, he’s deceased so isn’t there to witness the havoc his decisions have caused. Chrissy Dionne (courtesy of Romance Junkies)

What a wonderful FREE book. The story line is strong, thought provoking with an interesting plot. I felt connected to the characters as they came off as very real. I did not feel that the profanity/sex was excessive. The epilogue left a couple things in the balance, but I was still satisfied with it. A sequal would be amazing. 558 pages. Buy it now before Mary Campisi realizes people would pay for this book!!

A very poignant story about families.Just like real life, families can be dysfunctional in their own ways. What you see and perceive is not always the truth.

I did not enjoy this book. Seems the "fix" for everything was several shots of cheap whiskey. Uncle Harry was likable, but much too crude. Sex was graphic. The story line was one I would like my teenage granddaughter to read, but of course, she can't. I wont be reading any other works by this author.

From beginning to end, this book is amazing! Each character brings scandal, love, and purpose to entire story. Some adult content but it is appropriate in the story telling.

Life is full of surprises. The key to happiness is how you handle them. Christine thought everything in her life was fine until her dad's unexpected death. Her life becomes an emotional rollercoaster as she searches for answers and what she finds changes her whole world. This 548 page book is wonderfully written and will make you laugh and cry.

i enjoyed the book, however i really didn't get the romance between them. the author didn't spend enough time on that i guess. she did great going through the connection that christine had to her half sister and even her fathers mistress-i felt all that was real and really FELT it you know? but when it came to nate? i didn't quite get the draw between them. all in all it was good though.

Hard to believe that this was a free book. I enjoyed reading it. I don't get to read very much, but this year during Thanksgiving break I was able to read this book in only 2 days. I couldn't put it down.

While the story is well written and and the plot was interesting I found it difficult to read. The story is told from the point of view of several different people...more than three. For me personally this made the story more annoying then not.
