Overview

Like the other robots at Betty-Bot Burgers, Betty4 is gorgeous, generously endowed, and scantily clad. But unlike the other Betties, Betty4 has a sleeper program inside her that turns her into a sentient.

The trouble is, sentient robots always go crazy and have to be blanked by guys like FBI Agent Ku'oko'a Cedillos. This time, though, as Ku watches the video feed from the restaurant, he finds himself strangely attracted to the green-eyed robot.

Betty gets help escaping the restaurant from Truth, a black feminist. Betty's good luck turns bad, however, when Truth's comrade, Marcy, sells Betty to a mad roboticist named "Mouse", who wants to clone Betty so she can sell the copies. Betty is also being hunted by her creators, LifeLike Semi-Sentients, who want her blanked to avoid bad publicity.

All Betty wants is to be free, and to find out what it means to be a 'real woman'. This is a female Pinocchio, science-fiction, comedy-romance action story, and it's a race to see whether the hunters or the helpers will get to Betty first.

About the Author

I wrote my first short story when I was seven years old. Since I had already been devouring books for several years at that point, it was an exhilarating moment when I realized I could also write stories!

After dropping out of university three times, I finally managed to stay long enough to get myself a Masters degree in English Literature, which is not a very useful degree, but did provide a lovely excuse to read incessantly for 5 years. It also proved at least marginally useful in my chosen career of teacher of English as a Second Language.

Somewhere along the way, I also managed to score an actual JOB writing (as the Regional Reporter for a group of weekly newspapers in Hamilton, Ontario) and found that the relentless demand to write, write, WRITE honed my skills. The black marker used by the editors was painful, but educational. Cut, cut, CUT!

I am currently teaching ESL, and live in the charming community of Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
