Overview

When one door closes ... second chances open another ...

Ethan was lost after a major accident abruptly shifted him from a military life to a civilian one, from working with dogs to odd jobs ... In that time, he'd spent months healing from his physical injuries. When he connects with Badger and the rest of his Titanium Corp. group of former SEALs, Badger offers Ethan an opportunity he can't refuse. A chance to do the work he used to do ... with a twist.

Cinnamon works from home as a project manager plus is heavily involved in global dog rescues—dogs of all kinds. When Ethan walks into the next door's vet's office with an injured shepherd in his arms, she sees another lost soul—just like the canine ones she helps.

Ethan knows he's about to take a dangerous step, but he's on the job, and no one—on the job or not—hurts animals while he's around. This poor shepherd has taken enough abuse, and Ethan fears she is only the tip of a nightmare he's determined to uncover. But he knows she's going to lead him in the right direction.
He has his sights set on saving one dog in particular, Sentry: K9 File 01.

Dale Mayer wtrote with realism and truth. Sometimes civilans think that Vetetans are unbreakable, super beings. When a Veteran survives his sacrifices in duty to our country, it changes him. Ethan endured the loss of his leg, his friends, and his K-9 partner. He was making the effort to find his center, which his fellow Veterans understood. There is a fellowship between those who serve. Cinnamon had focus. She held down a paycheck job that allowed her to follow her heart as a non-salaried volunteerl She found homes for dogs in need. She dealt with an international crisis and coordinated efforts to place dogs with forever homes. Ethan's friends told him about retired military service dogs who were misplaced. These dogs were highly trained and served in dire circumstances. Twelve dogs had returned home to retire but circumstances created havoc. In one case, the Vet who received the dog became I'll and was hospitaluzed. His wife was unable to care for the dog, and he was given away. Only now nobody knew where he was. This is a complete story and I found it suspenseful ab,nd interesting. I admired Ethan's character and his dedication. I found Cinnamon a wee bit unrealustic, and naive. I do recommend this book!

I gave this story of Ethan, Cinnamon, and all the dogs an extra star for rescue and dogs. The story itself was a bit shallow in character development and somewhat predictable. And it seemed to end rather abruptly. The epilogue is really a lead in to another story.

Loved this book. Great to read about our military heroes, both two- and four- legged, and helping them adjust to civilian life. Thanks for a great read and shining a light on the subjects.

Love it! Hunk men and dogs! What could be better! This is the first book in the series (and I have loved all of the author’s other series)! We are introduced to the first of a group of men who are dedicated to saving their canine companions from war. There is mystery, suspense and romance (and of course dogs!). This book had a great story, suspense some romance and a bit of sex. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A great beginning to a new series with K9 dogs as the focus and their rescue. Ethan was a trainer and handler when stationed and his first assignment is to find and retrieve Sentry, a vet dog that has been “missing” and needs to be found. He gets the request from Badger, and ends up while looking for Sentry, finding another dog in bad shape. When he brings her to the vet’s, he also meets Cinnamon, a woman who also loves animals, especially dogs, and has a business that finds families to adopt dogs. While Ethan continues his search for Sentry, he finds a shady business, bringing bad news to his front door and inadvertently dragging Cinnamon into the dangerous situation as well...can he help the dogs as well as Cinnamon. A great read with a slow burn between these two, a bit of steam, danger, some suspense, and melting heart scenes with all the dogs. I loved this beginning, Ethan was quiet, strong, and had a way with the dogs and Cinnamon didn’t beat around the bush and was a strong resilient woman. These two had sparks flying off the pages and I enjoyed their banter, along with the suspense and danger, made it page turner and a book I couldn’t put down. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
