Perhaps the most brilliant comic strip ever created, Calvin and Hobbes continues to entertain with dazzling cartooning and tremendous humor.

Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Beginning with the day Hobbes sprang into Calvin's tuna fish trap, the first two Calvin and Hobbes collections, Calvin and Hobbes and Something Under The Bed Is Drooling, are brought together in this treasury. Including black-and-white dailies and color Sundays,  The Essential Calvin and Hobbes also features an original full-color 16-page story.

It was my first Calvin and Hobbes book, but after it..I am always looking for more. I had so much fun while reading it, that by the time I was almost done I started slowing down to have more time to enjoy it. This kid is hillarious. He thinks as an adult, but with a funny innocent touch. And actually it is true that we all had 'or have' that special toy...However, Calvin is a bit more hyper and imaginative than common kids..Thank God!

It was,but it did not have that last little touch to it. That was ,not all the pages had color, but other than that it was perfect!

Does anyone know if this one has the "What's it like to Fall in Love" comic strip in it?  Feb. 1986

I have always been a fan of the comics, and actually have the whole set in paper form. However, when I saw that some of them were available for my nook HD+ I jumped at getting this. The only con is that they all aren't available right now! Great comic for anyone who is a fan. Calvin has an interesting take on life, and Hobbes is his balance.

I love Calvin and Hobbes, I want to give them 100000000000 stars!!!! My gramma read them, my mom read them, and now me and my sister are reading them! I even lent the book to my BFF! She lovees it also, and a lot of my guy friends read it, too! If you haven't read it, and you have about 10 bucks spending cash, I sugest this book!!!!!!

I've collected all? the collections available. This purchase was a gift for a 13-year-old boy, and we knew it would be very well received. These compilations are great to keep in the car to re-read while waiting for appointments, etc. This book, and others that Mr. Watterson has blessed us with, are great for deck-sitting in the summer, and curling up on the couch on rainy or snowy days. Calvin's snowman creations, antics with parents, and the joint imaginations of this boy and his stuffed but very-much-alive cat, Hobbs, are always an entertaining! Kudos for the super-sized vocabulary. Kids won't even realize they're learning...

I think that this book is awesome. I really enjoyed this book. There are so many funny parts in the book. I think it is funny when Hobbes does something but Calvin gets blamed for it. I reccomend that if you like comics like me then get these books.

A wonderful collection of some of the best of Calvin and Hobbes. I loved these comics and still do. The hilarious and hearwarming relationship between a boy and his stuffed tiger, these comics will leave readers laughing and smiling through the whole book.

There must be many reasons for the almost universal delight taken by the public in the work of Bill Watterson as the creator of a swash-buckling 6-year-old and a tiger named Hobbes, who is real to Calvin, but is a stuffed animal to everyone else. The syndicated strip ran for 10 years -- 1985 through 1995, with the Treasury published in 1999, and the 3-volume "Complete Calvin and Hobbes" in 2005. Watterson has resisted what must be a kind of temptation: He has not permitted or profited from merchandising: "My strip is about private realities, the magic of imagination, and the specialness of certain friendships. [No one] would believe in the innocence of a little kid and his tiger if they cashed in on their popularity to sell overpriced knickknacks that nobody needs." I like that part -- that "nobody needs". Then again, I wonder....

Contains cartoons from "Calvin and Hobbes" and "Something under the bed is drooling". The Sunday large-format strips are in colour. Wonderful original humour and imagination. Fun for kids, but hugely enjoyable for adults, and even more so for parents.

The greatest comic strip ever. Watterson was an absolute genius.

The start of the classic comic strip. See Calvin meet so many of the characters we came to know and love, including Hobbes. Yes, some of the jokes are dates (VCR's anyone?), but the humor is just priceless.
