Overview

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rosamunde Pilcher’s The End of Summer, a woman revisits her home and her heartbreak when she is reunited with the one she loved and lost—and could love again.

After years in the United States, Jane returns to the tranquil Scottish estate, Elvie, where she spent a magical childhood. Memories of Elvie had always summoned the image of Sinclair, the rakish man Jane had once dreamed of marrying, but now that she is home, she finds Sinclair a different man. His charm has a purpose, and Jane can no longer trust him...or herself.

I've read all of her books and read them again and again. Would give anything to find another author who writes the way she does with the attention to detail. Don't bother with her son's books, they don't compare. I'm just sorry that she is in her 90s and stoped writing years ago. So I'll keep re reading. They take me back to a good place

A nice story - Pilcher always creates such characters that you end up caring for. One of her small novels.Back Cover Blurb:Sitting on a California beach at summer's end, Jane Marsh thinks back to her childhood at the estate called Elvie in a remote corner of Scotland. She remembers not only the heather-covered hills and the lonesome loch, but her grandmother....and, of course, Sinclair. She has secretly dreamed of marrying rakishly handsome Sinclair and settling at Elvie forever. Then an urgent visit from her grandmother's lawyer becomes the catalyst for her return to Scotland....where waiting for her is passion, not gentle love, and the chilling realisation that she may be ready to wed the wrong man.

Rosamunde Pilcher is again at her best. I've practically read all of her books and have never been disappointed. This one has a surprise ending. I hope she writes a sequel to it.

It is nice to find a "coming of age" book that is plausable and takes one back to the mysteries of the adult world before it is entirely understood. The author has captured the innocence of youth and paired it with the drama of adult family secrets that are revealed through her eyes. I enjoyed the book entirely.
