It's Sharon McCone's first case as staff investigator for All Souls Legal Cooperative. She knows nothing about antiques, yet she has an affection for Salem Street with its charming mix of antique and curio shops. Now elderly dealer Joan Albritton has been found dead, stabbed with an antique dagger. Her neighbors are shocked. Recurring vandalism has them frightened. Ferreting out the facts will take Sharon from the chaotic jumble of the junk dealer's establishment to a museum where San Francisco's most elegant socialites gather.

I've been checking the Nook Store for over a year in hopes of finding Ms. Muller's backlist. Read this first McCone the year it was published and reading it now is as wonderful as bumping into a long lost friend. Looking forward to re-reading all of the others in this ground breaking series. Thanks so much for making these available for a whole new generation of mystery fans!

I didn't expect to enjoy this book. Boy was I wrong.

The heroine comes off as a very lucky amateur...lucky to have survived her careless, mindless rush to confront the suspects in the case.

Be warned...this is a very short read, only 149 pages. I bought it because I enjoy reading a series but this just didn't do it for me. I think it was written some years ago, which would explain a lot. Some attitudes toward the main character were sexist and demeaning (the police detective for one). It was kind of dry and a little far fetched, I thought.
