BOOK THREE of the Plague Wars series.

"...this time Skull is presented in a more humane way and he is able to make "friends," meaning he does not kill everybody he meets lol..." - Niover H.

"Been reading all night long. Can't put it down." - Lenoirdenantes

"EDEN'S EXODUS is a really well-structured story, with lots of subtle machinations on every level from interpersonal to international relationships. VanDyke and King make a great storytelling team." - Marcia K.

The Eden virus is spreading. Blessing or curse, it's apparent that it can't be contained. For the poor and the sick, the Plague is a godsend, yet it puts those infected in the cross hairs of people who fear their power is slipping away. When these desperate Edens turn to Daniel Markis and the Free Communities for help, he can't refuse. Spooky, Skull, and Reaper are soon struggling to save these Edens - but someone on the inside may betray them.

Eden's Exodus is a Plague Wars novel that continues where Skull's Shadows ended, filling in more of the apocalyptic events of the decade before the incidents of The Demon Plagues, when the world changed yet again.

His haunting, yet accurate, view of humanity is as masterfully done as Stephen King in his prime. The topics are significantly different, but these books are that insightful and engrossing. Looking for the next one now

The world is a falling apart. A virus has been unleashed on the world that exponentially improves the ability to recover from disease and injury in people but also increases their sense of right and wrong, “The virtue effect,” with inhibitions in place against harming others. This has thrown the leaders of the world who are dependent upon their ability to control others through fear and intimidation against people, those who have been infected with the Eden Plague, who find harming others loathsome and abhorrent. The people who have been infected are known as “Edens.” In the United States and in some other countries they are being hunted and collected in what could be described as concentration camps where many are starving to death. The Eden Plague requires inordinate amounts of calories be consumed due to very increased energy needs among those who are infected. In Africa ten thousand Edens were imprisoned in a camp in Ethiopia but broke free and are holed up on top of a mountain. They have appealed to Eden groups around the world for help in escaping from their confinement from Ethiopia and to refuge in Kenya that if they can’t will result in they're being wiped out. In “Eden’s Exodus” the story follows two main story lines: One follows Alan “Skull” Denham recruitment and journey to Ethiopia and the other a team led by former staff sergeant Jill “Reaper” Repeth. Skull is not infected with the Eden virus and is haunted by personal demons while Reaper is driven by a sense of duty to do what is right no matter what the cost. They each work their way to the mountain top hold-out of the Eden’s in Africa and end up working together to get them across the border into Kenya where they will find refuge, at least for the time being. Along they way the different ways they look at life and accomplish their goals are contrasted. Skull, will use any means whatsoever, even almost indiscriminate deadly force to accomplish his desired goals, while Reaper will use the amount of force that is required but no more than is necessary. Skull resists getting infected with the Eden virus while Reaper and company infect anyone they can while moving ahead. The constant play of their two different approaches overlaid over the almost dire situation of the Eden’s trapped between annihilation or salvation drive this satisfying action-filled story forward to a most satisfactory conclusion where the ends are tied up but room is left for continuation in the next chapter in the “Eden Plagues.”
