This is directed by Franco Zefferelli- if you liked his more popular film of Romeo and Juliet, you should like this one as well. It was filmed in a studio with large, lush sets. Some of the humor is overdone, but that's typical in films of Shakespeare's comedies. I think Taylor does a little better than Burton, but both are very good. The only other actor I've heard of is Michael York as Lucentio. You can choose if you want to hear the voices in English, Spanish or Portuguese, and subtitles are in 6 languages.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are at their best in this movie. I think it mirrors their personal relationship perfectly. This movie is for everyone, it entertains, makes you laugh and warms your heart. It has been one of my favorites since childhood. I reacommend it to everyone.
