A lonely stretch of highway leads to a date with terror in this thriller. Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton) and Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) are a young couple in the midst of a long-distance road trip when, during a rainstorm, they take pity on a hitchhiker, John Ryder) (Sean Bean), and give him a lift. Jim and Grace soon come to regret their benevolence when Ryder reveals himself as a violent madman determined to see them dead. Luck is with Jim and Grace, and they're able to throw off Ryder and get back on the road, but as it happens their troubles are just beginning. Ryder has already killed a handful of people and is planting evidence that suggests Jim and Grace are the murderers; now the couple is on the run from the law as they search for Ryder in a bid to clears their names. The Hitcher is a remake of the 1986 cult horror classic of the same name; the new version was produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, who previously produced remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror.

Some say it sucks and I'll admit I like the original better because it has one of my favorite actors C. Thomas Howell whom I Love!! :) The new guy is not a very good comparison and should not have been called Jim Halsey because the story was different (o well he dies (: )!!! But Sophia Bush is excellent and the fact that the girl kills the bad guy in this one is way way cool!!! I think she is great in this movie and Sean Bean plays a reely creepy bad guy!! I own it and if you like horror you should too!

"I want you to say 4 little words...I want to die." Probably this movie's single defining, classic line. This was a pretty good, suspenseful movie, and a bit shocking in a couple of parts.. It was interesting to see the hitcher/killer toy with the teenagers throughout the movie, and to be honest...there were some parts in it that I didn't see coming. Sean Bean did a great job as the hitcher/killer...a great role for him. He is another actor that I really like. Sophia Bush and Zachary Kingston did great as the teenagers as well, and Neal McDonough was great as the police detective in it. He is a great actor as well. But yeah, if you're up for a suspensful cat & mouse slasher on wheels, and enjoy a couple of twists & turns, this is a good one to watch. Not a bad remake.

I think that this movie was so terrifying and that the characters went thought hell and that the hitchhiker needs a new methiod though because his in this movie starts to get really anoying.

"I want you to say four little words...I want to die." said the character of John Ryder to the suffering character of Jim Halsey. Remember this is a remake so scenes can get changed. Let's see after watching the trailer for this I was like wait this reminds me of another movie and thus rememberd the sequel the hitcher 2 i've been waiting where in this one the plot follows what they had in that and in the original. It was almost scene for scene though they changed the roles a bit which i'm sure people would noticed it by now if they seen the original. For instance (Jim with his GF instead of him alone, lastly the infamous tied to two trucks you have to stop the psycopath from ripping the person to shreds, perhaps the scene best rememered of course) Anyway, movies will get remade whether we like them or not, sometimes remakes do come out alright. To Tell you the truth, they could of done better but I thought the movie was alright and was rooting for Ryder the whole time cause I thought the characters were a little weak but then again what can you do if you are 1. stalked by a killer, 2. get blamed for the killings all the while trying to stay alive, and 3. having to explain this when you get home while trying not to be killed. That's just how horror movies are. It was cool to see someone else in the Ryder role, don't get me wrong Hauer was good in it, Bean did good too, and we all know the guy can handle villian type roles. So in conclusion the movie sucked kinda since it was short though Red Eye was short but that movie rocked.
