Starring Seymour Hicks as the title character, Scrooge is a faithful adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol about a heartless miser who discovers the true meaning of Christmas when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve. Hicks co-wrote the screenplay to this film, which is a thoroughly entertaining and effective retelling of a familiar story

In my opinion, there isn't any better way to begin the holiday season than to review the black and white version of Scrooge. Sir Seymour Hicks and Donald Calthrop draw you in and make you feel a part of the story. The non-colourized DVD, gives a chill to the all ready cold and bleak story line. Later versions are not quite as good as the authentic 1935 movie. It's only 59 min. in length and a great reminder to all as to just how fortunate we all are...for the most part. Humbug
