It was a long time coming, but Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare
finally hit DVD thanks to Synapse Films! Jon Mikl Thor's opus can now be appreciated for all of the brilliantly cheesy schlock that it is for the masses that haven't already been indoctrinated into its hardcore fan base. Incredibly, this special edition is packed with new exclusive extras that shed more light on the production, while presenting the film in such a pristine way that was once never believed possible. Accompanying the incredible high-definition widescreen transfer is a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack that pumps out the jams in surround mode or for those completists out there, the original 2.0 mono track is included as well. Features-wise, the fun starts with a candid audio commentary from Thor and director John Fasano
, both of whom have a good time as they recount stories of the rushed production (which was apparently filmed in ten days). On top of that, there's an interview special with Thor as he reminisces on his career and the way that the film has continued to affect it, as well as rare behind-the-scenes footage of the filming and make-up portions of the picture. Two music videos are also on tap, plus in-depth liner notes and a brand-new intro and afterward to the film provided by Thor make this a must-have purchase for the film's devoted audience that have long worn out their VHS copies of the film.
