Director Nick Cassavetes collaborates with screenwriter Jeremy Leven (The Notebook) for this drama about a pair of parents who resort to unorthodox methods in order to save their young daughter's life, only to find their decision coming back to haunt them in a manner neither could have ever foreseen. Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric) are coasting through life with their young son and daughter when tragedy threatens to tear the family apart. Suddenly, their baby girl falls ill, and her only hope for survival rests in her parents' ability to find a compatible bone marrow donor. Desperate to save their daughter's life at any cost, Sara and Brian conceive another child in hopes that the baby will be a genetic match. But that decision raises a series of moral and ethical questions that rapidly begin to erode the foundation of the once-happy couple's relationship. Incensed upon learning that she was brought into this world for the singular purpose of prolonging the life of her ailing older sister, the young girl (Abigail Breslin) ultimately decides to sue her parents for the rights to her own body. Alec Baldwin, Sofia Vassilieva, and Joan Cusack co-star.

This movie changed my life and i know thats very typical to say but it did. It teached me how to let go of one of my family memembers that died of cancer. This movie really showed every thing people who have cancer go through as well as the people around them. It shows you how hard it is to live through that. This movie was so nicely done it really looked like the actress had cancer which was amazing. I do i have to say that the movie was nothing like the book but i think i like that change. This movie made men cry which says alot. I think this is a movie that should have gotten more praise and should be seen worldwide,in schools, and just by plain old people you can learn a lot from this movie if not now but diffenetly later on in life. Cancer is diffenetly something people should know more about because it has become something so commom. Thats all that has to be said about this movie it is a must watch but be sure to have a box of tissues

The riveting book My Sisters Keeper is a gripping story revolving around the concept of life and death. The author Jodi Picoult on a sensitive subject about Sara and Brian Fitzgerald being unfortunate enough to have their little girl, just three years old, diagnosed with Leukemia. They then create a genetic match to be Kate’s so-called “backup.” Anna started giving Kate parts of her body the day she was born. Anna then had been sent in and out of the hospital so many times doctors could have mistaken her to be the one diagnosed. She was needed for blood, bone marrow, and anything else that Kate needed to help her hold on to life as long as she could. Anna has had enough of the poked and prodding when she finally turned 13 and hires a well-known lawyer, Campbell Alexander to assist her in receiving medical emancipation for her parents. Between Julia Romano, the dog Judge, and misunderstood Jessie, the sub plots in this book just add fuel to the fire, making readers anxious to continue reading and the see how the plots will wrap themselves up. This book really makes you think how far can you push things before you lose your morals and everything that seems right to you? How can you choose which daughters life to change while keeping your family intact? This book really opened my eyes to the plague that cancer not only sets on the patient, but the family as a whole. Between the numerous plot twists that will break the readers heart, learning to understand the characters and their objectives in the story, and the beautiful fight Anna will put forth, readers wont stop turning pages. My Sister’s Keeper is a novel that a reader can dive head first into, feeling their pain is if you were the characters yourself. “There should be a statute of limitation on grief. A rule book that says it’s all right to wake up crying, but only for a month… That it’s okay to measure the time she’s been gone like we used to measure her birthdays.”

My Sister’s Keeper Will Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat! I enjoyed the movie “My Sister’s Keeper”. Produced in 2009 by Mark Johnson, Curmudgeon, & Scott L. Goldman, this movie is a tear-jerking, heart-warming story that is based on the novel by Jodi Picoult.Kate has had leukemia since she was 2 years old. Anna was conceived in a test tube test tube by a scientist to create the perfect donor match for Kate. Ever since the moment Anna was was born, she has been donating spare parts to Kate and she is fed up with it. She files a lawsuit against her parents in hopes that she’d be granted medical emancipation. All the actors, specifically Abigail Breslin and Cameron Diaz, did a wonderful job. I think they put together an excellent cast. “My Sister’s Keeper” has an appropriate length given the circumstances, I don’t remember exactly, but I believe the total running time was somewhere around 1 hour and 42 minutes. The producers did an excellent job finding the right actors for the movie. In my opinion, acting is one of the significant features in a movie, and this acting was simply marvelous thanks to the producers who found them. I would recommend the book and the movie to anyone who asks about it, but I would tell them to read the book first. I watched the movie first and I kinda regret it. I think I look down on the movie and don’t really appreciate it as much as I did before I read the book.

The movie was good, but where the book had an unexpected ending, the movie was totally typical!!

Ok i read the book (one of my favorites) and the movie cant even be the same. First of all they took out a main charater, changed the ending, then didnt even show anything about jessy, and more. If you read the book dont watch the movie, trust me im saving you the frustration and the only reason why i put one star is because if wouldnt let me send a review unless i put one on.

When I first saw it i didn't stop crying. To watch how someone could go through something like that makes you think how luck you are if your healthy. Definitly keep a box of tissues with you!! It was great though!!

How could the producers re-script the ending of the book for this movie? To what end? Truly a disappointment to an otherwise good movie.

Disappointing to those who the read the book. Big time! The only up part in this whole movie was that Alec Baldwin was perfectly cast! Fans stick with the book!

I cannot believe that Jodi Picoult would agree to the ending of this movie!! Whose terrible idea was that? I read the book and it was amazing but due to the extreme change of the ending this movie is terrible!

I had read the book, and as in most cases it was better than the movie. But, in this movie they even seemed to change story lines even.

Although this is a good movie if you have never heard of the book, it has an ending that is unrealistic and the opposite to the book. I recommend reading the book first highly.

This movie shows how brave a child with her own mind and heart can get. This is one of my all time favorites. I think this movie helps people understand the real meaning of bravery. She also has a bunch of courage she goes for something she believes in and gets it. I recommend this book.

From beginning to end this movie captured the viewer's attention. While I had read the book, the director and author did a wonderful job of presenting the issues in the story in a attention grabbing fashion. It was not slow but engaged the viewer from beginning to end. Even my husband, who had not read this book, was engaged in the movie. This was not just another chick flick but a movie the whole family could watch. Cameron Diaz was perfectly cast in the role of the mother as she offered a believable character. The story of the two sisters is a powerful tale of a family struggling to find a way to save one sister at the cost of the other ones well being. While each knows the consequences of not doing the treatments that will save the one who is dying there comes a time when the cost may be too great. If you haven't read the book then the ending will surprise you.
