In what some sportscasters call the number one sports moment of the century, the U.S. Hockey Team amazingly beat the Soviets by a 4-3 score in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics and took the Gold Medal. This program looks back at the event, referred to as "The Miracle on Ice," and shapes it into perspective today, 21 years later, through footage and interviews. Featured in the documentary are U.S. players Jim Craig and Mike Eruzione (who made the winning point), U.S. Coach Herb Brooks and Soviet players Vladislav Tretiak and Boris Mihailov. The team was so renowned for its feat that it appeared on a commemorative box of Wheaties in 1997.

It's almost exactly the same movie as the 'Miracle' now in the theaters.
This Documentary brings back a miracle that might not happen ever again. Each time I hear this story I still holler at the TV yelling "GO" even though I already know who wins the game, and by the end of the game I'm cheering "USA" and tears of joy fill my eyes! I've watched this documentary so many times I know it word for word, yet it is still so intresting. This is by far HBO's greatest documentary on the greastest moment in sports history.
this is a very good dvd i got it in a 2 for 20 sale at best buy a few years backfor the movie Miracle. the dvd is over 1 hour so u get alot to watch and each chapter is neaver to long around 5 to 7 mins! the dvd starts off form the year 1977 to the end of the 1980 hockey season. You also learn about how russa was a very scary place to live in the late 70s early 80s.
I am an avid hockey fan and I have read stories of these games over the years and I've watched the "Miracle on Ice" movie numerous times, but this movie tops them all.. I would have loved to have been there for this game and watch the US win the goad.
