Death Train

Death Train

Director: Yossi Wein Cast: Bryan Genesse, Bentley Mitchum, Tarri Markel

DVD (Pan & Scan)

A runaway train barrels through the Mexican countryside, and the only hope for its passengers is a special agent with one gun and a whole bag of tricks in this pulse-pounding effort from low-budget action king Yossi Wein. A band of escaped prisoners have armed themselves and boarded a train, and it's only a matter of time before they begin to execute the frightened passengers. As the high-speed train thunders across the countryside, the safety of everyone on board lies in the hands on one man -- Special Agent Ryan (Bryan Genesse).

Six escaped convicts hijack a passenger train, taking several dozen hostages and gunning down quite a few more. Only an armed Pinkerton who escaped notice can stop them. That would be the plot, such as it is. The dialouge may have been improved by translating it into English from Swahili, and that from Dutch, from Mandarin Chinese, from Klingon. It would have made more sense anyways. The so-called action sequences are among the most poorly orchestrated I have ever seen, with characters standing in the open firing (and missing every shot) without taking any sort of cover. The acting is wooden, and certain character actions (he ignores the loaded machine guns but grabs the nearly empty .22?) are completely incomprehensible. Some decent music and nice locations cannot help this monstrosity. See it just for a laugh.
