A small-town pastor and his wife discover that church politics can be murder upon arriving at their new post at First Baptist Willit Springs. The former minister having died under mysterious circumstances, Pastor Evan Burke and his wife Nora agree to step-in and head up the congregation. When Nora and Pastor Burke learn that the parsonage is being renovated, they accept an invitation to stay with Miss Pat and her son Elijah until the work is done. A controlling widow, Miss Pat lets Pastor Burke know that she expects to have her say in every important church decision. Now, the more time Nora spends in Miss Patt's quaint North Georgia home, the more she begins to suspect that enigmatic Elijah may not be the innocent man-child his mother portrays him to be. Could Elijah have played a role in the murder of the previous pastor? If so, how far is he willing to go to keep his sinister secret safe?
