If you loved Anchorman, or even if you thought it wasn't completely the laugh-riot that you thought your Will Ferrell-lovin' bones deserved, then you need to give the two-pack DVD set with the all-new adventure, Wake-Up Ron Burgundy a chance. One look at the new flick and you'll see just how much footage was cut from the theatrical print; how else could you explain the creation of an entirely new 90-minute feature made solely from deleted footage? What's amazing is that not only does all of it gel into a movie with a beginning, middle, and end, but it has a completely different plot and is almost just as funny as Anchorman. Wake-Up Ron Burgundy does feature some moments that simply fall-flat, but so did the original movie. In fact, with some gratuitous editing, you'd probably get a best-of flick that wouldn't make a lick of sense, but would no-doubt have you laughing on the floor from beginning to end. It's sad that most people won't catch this little extra film, since no one should miss his new spin-off investigative news show "Rip the Lid Off of It" or the downright bizarre cannibal scene near the end. Worth watching for fun or just for sheer curiosity sake, Wake-Up Ron Burgundy is a hilarious one-of-a-kind pseudo-sequel, and for that and many more other reasons (like Steve Carell's burrito scene), it demands attention. Extras on the Wake-Up Ron Burgundy disc include over 30-minutes of deleted scenes and outtakes, along with auditions, rehearsals, and so much more added footage that it's hard to know where to begin. Packaged with the extra disc is the widescreen Anchorman: Unrated, Uncut and Uncalled For edition, featuring the movie plus over 60-minutes of outrageous bonus features that add up to make a virtual Ron Burgundy overdose of goodness. Of the multiple DVD versions that spawned from Anchorman, this set gets the highest recommendation to anyone who's looking to add the film into their DVD collection.
