America's Unsung Heroes of Wwii

America's Unsung Heroes of Wwii

Director:  Cast: Fritz Weaver

This documentary release is a four-pack set, which contains stories of some of America's unsung war heroes. Every soldier is a hero and has a story that deserves to be told. The stories of eight little-known military leaders are told here. Volume one contains the exploits of "Red Mike" Edson and General Roy Geiger. Edson was in charge of one of the first Marine units to land in the Solomon Islands. General Geiger and his infantry fought to protect the Guadalcanal airfield for use by the Cactus Air Force. Volume two looks at a leader and his teenaged combat engineers who changed the course of history at the Battle of the Bulge. Also included is the story of the Army Rangers in Korea. The story of combat journalists covering the invasion of Tarawa, and the heroism of the men at Iwo Jima are the subjects of Volume three. Volume four covers the heroism of Swede Mornsen, whose actions saved the crew of a sunken submarine, and Peter Tompkins, whose bravery while operating alone in enemy territory helped save thousands of lives during the Allied invasion of Italy.
