Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family--and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award for Best Novel, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what it undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Dune is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in an exquisitely designed bonded-leather binding, with distinctive gilt edging and a silk-ribbon bookmark. Decorative, durable, and collectible, these books offer hours of pleasure to readers young and old and are an indispensable cornerstone for every home library.

If you’re not sure whether you’ll like Dune, you may want to purchase a cheaper copy or check one out from the Library. This is an amazing copy for fans of the book. It’s beautiful on the shelf and fun to read. If you’re worried about starting the book because it’s part of a larger series, you needn’t be. This book is a stand-alone book that has beginning and ending in this book. If you finish this book and don’t wish to start the second, you will be satisfied with a complete story. The story is one of tragic loss, great heroism, devious villains, and a unique and interesting take on the future. Herbert captures our imagination on what mankind is capable of while relating this future to real world problems. This is one of my favorite books and I reread it every couple years.

First and foremost this is specifically a review of the Leatherbound Classics edition of Dune.  It's pretty much on par with the other books I've received from this collection and a must have for anyone who likes Frank Herbert.  The cover design is gorgeous, and the formatting is elegant.  I can find nothing wrong with it at all.

This is my favorite book. I was so excited when I saw such a beautiful copy. If all 19 books had fancy versions like this I would buy each and every one! If you are a fan of the series or just the first book I would recommend this. It is such a treat for a fan. “He who controls the spice controls the universe.”

There is no words, there is just Dune.

The book captures everything the author would approve of. Richly embossed cover bathed in spice colors to the inside which takes the words on a paper that cannot match easton press. This is way over the top to perfection.

Dune is a great but the second book starts slow and slows down, with a lot of intrigue  and little action. I recommend Dune but not the squeal.

This is a beautiful book, and an excellent read! I don't regret buying it for even one moment!

Barnes & Noble did a fantastic job on this copy of Dune. Gorgeous book, high quality. A little warning about the gilded edges: I dropped a glass of water, which unfortunately splashed on one of the gilded edges, and the "gold" overlay dissolved a bit :(  I sure hope that Barnes & Noble will be releasing the rest of the series in this beautiful leather-bonded edition; i would love to have the full set.

I am a huge fantasy fan but Dune is and will be forever my first love. After moving from Germany to Chile I had to leave behind my paperbook edition my mother bought me when I was ten. Being now older and having the money to effort something more "pretty" I was looking for a nice leatherbound version. My first choice was easton press but after seeing the cover design I was quite  disappointed. Then I stumbled upon this version and instantly fell in love (again). The artwork and quality are simply amazing.  I honestly can't stop looking at it. If Herbert had to choose a version of Dune for his personal library, it would be this one, I am sure of it!

This is a very nice product. I was a fan of Dune before I bought this, and once I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The cover art is wonderful. The only problem I have is that, while reading it, I noticed on the spine that a strip of the blue coloring had rubbed or chipped away, leaving an orange "crack" that is very noticeable.

“‘Grave this on your memory lad: A World is supported by four things...’ She held up four big-knuckles fingers. ‘... the learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the righteous and the valor of the brave. But all of these are nothing....’ She closed her fingers into a fist. ‘... without a ruler who knows the art of ruling. Make that the science of your tradition.’” I have been so intimidated by this book for so long. I am not entirely sure why, other than the major hype about Dune in the world of fantasy books. It definitely did live up to the hype for me. I was amazed by Frank Herbert’s writing and how his story could be so easily parallel with things happening into today’s political and social world. The story was intriguing and although confusing in the beginning, I didn’t ever loose interest. If you have felt intimidated by the series like I was, I would say don’t be. Just go for it. I give this book 4.5 stars and will definitely be reading more in this series. I also want to add that this Barnes and Noble Collectible edition is stunning in person.

I have the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound edition of Frank Herbert's "Dune." While I was looking through the B&N Leatherbounds I was immediately drawn to this edition. I loved the orange and dark blue color scheme. I was especially drawn to the detail on the spine. I've heard that many people enjoy this book, but I've never read it myself so I decided to pick it up and give it a chance.

Well, it finally arrived after 6 weeks (based on my previous orders, it usually only take 3 weeks).  The cover art/style is a bit too simple, but nice overall for collection. I'm really looking forward to reading this.

Overall, this is a good book. It is slow moving, but enjoyable overall. I have read it four times now, and still find it hard to believe that this is the greatest science friction novel ever written. If you do continue on with the series, it only gets stranger.

Would be better if it had all the Dunes.
