Silver Hills Senior and Singles Residence isn't exactly a boring place. Home to a death predicting cat named Tolstoy, a night manager who may or may not suck blood and float above the floor, a cook with mad voodoo and pie baking powers, and a trio of nosy sleuths who are determined to get to the bottom of the corpse in the library (maybe literally)...some might say things couldn't get any weirder. Some would be wrong.

Dose Vidanya is a hilarious tickle the ole funny bone murder mystery! The ladies of the Silver Hills Senior and Singles Residence try to solve the reason Yegor, an employee from the kitchen, was found dead in the Library. The seniors are a hoot as they gather and piece together the clues. But what happens when they start getting too close to the truth? I don’t do spoilers so at this point I will simply say this book is a must. It has a great storyline that will having you laughing while trying to follow the clues along with the gang! I believe Sam Cheever has a hit series on her hands and this reader looks forward to more books from the Silver Hill Resistance. 2 Thumbs Up for a must read hilarious murder mystery story!

Cheever does a terrific job of making his characters quirky and fun. The villains in the story are just as enjoyable to read about as the main characters. You won’t guess who the killer is until the end and will have a good time with the story getting there. One of the funniest cozy mysteries I have read.

Not a great read. I like a lot of "Cozy Mysteries," and this one just felt amateur. I never know the culprit, but I had this one figured out less than halfway through the book. Additionally, a lot of the jokes made in the story are regarding one major character's size, and it just feels mean-spirited and lazy. I won't be reading the next, and it's good that I got this one free during a Nook book promo.

The author tried to write many false leads as to “who did it”. Some believable, some not.

I laughed so hard, i had tears. The first part was so funny. Then it became a bit more serious. It still had some funny parts. I really enjoyed the characters. It was hard to put a face to them. They were in their 50's, but the descriptions of them made them seem older. Maybe because Im in my 50's and I'm like huh? All in all this was a great read. I have read other books by Sam Cheever. This one..cant say enough. AKS

I received Dose Vidanya as a birthday present a few years back and am I ever glad I did. This was my first Sam Cheever book but it certainly won't be my last. The story is set at Silver Hills, a Seniors and Singles apartment complex with an interesting and eclectic set of residents and staff whose quiet routine is disturbed when the new busboy turns up dead in the upstairs lounge. The police say it was natural causes but two of the residents are convinced otherwise and set out to find the murderer. What follows is a book that will keep you laughing from the first page to the last as you piece together the mystery of what's going on and who's trying to kill off the residents and staff. Cheever's characters are lovingly crafted and fully developed. You'll find mystery, humor and even a few budding romances. It's been announced as the first book in a new series and I hope to see super sleuths Flo and Agnes and the rest of the Sliver Hills gang in many future adventures.
