One for the afficionados - not my favourite Kerouac work I'm afraid...

We've all read On the Road, and we all savored it like candy. Here's a differrent side of Jack - dark and murky, but still outstanding. Actually, the title of one of the chapters describes the book rather well: 'A Gloomy Bookmovie'. Dr. Sax, a cryptic cloaked phantasm, confronts the forces of evil, all in the imagination of a boyhood Kerouac. This novel is a surreal departure from most of his other work. If you're going to read only one of his books, read On the Road. If you're going to read more than one, don't miss this one.
