It takes a certain kind of rough and tumble man to show a Sinclair girl how to ask for everything she wants. . .

For Patience Sinclair, leaving the ivy-covered halls of Boston for the wide, open spaces of Texas means a chance to stop looking over her shoulder at every turn. Traveling incognito with the Triple C Rodeo is just what she needs to free her from a past that continues to haunt her. But she can't avoid the undeniable presence of Dallas Kingman. The champion rider has a way of letting her know he's watching her every move that makes her feel wild and reckless. As they make their way through the heart of the southwest, a series of mysterious accidents darkens the promise of the unknown into a vortex of fear and obsession, and Patience finds herself closer to danger than she could have ever imagined. . .

I discovered Kat Martin just a few years ago with the Against series, and then started reading her past contemporary books. I have never been disappointed! I was waiting for the story of the third Sinclaire sister to be reissued; it is a wonderful story, and my favorite of the trilogy. I read it nonstop till the end even though I had a other things to be doing! I loved Dallas and Patience! She is a strong, intelligent woman, and he is very strong yet sensitive when it comes to her especially once he gives in to his feelings. All of the characters were engaging and fun to get to know. The setting is very descriptive and I felt like I was there, even though I know nothing of the rodeo world. The intrigue, romance, and suspense were just perfect. Core values of family, friendship, love of the land, and honor are evident throughout. Even though romance novels have HEAs, I truly thought "this could go either way." I was not disappointed and Kat Martin kept me involved till the very end! In fact, another story about Shari and Stormy would be great, and then we could revisit with Dallas and Patience and the Carsons.

if i could i would give thhis 10 stars. tis is the second in a sisters trilogy. patience heads to texas to finish her thesis on early western rodeo women. she pairs up with a barrel racer named shari. the rodeo company she joins is plagued with 'accidents'. she meets dallas and romance follows.between the action and romance miss kat has written a fantastic story. it is very difficult to put it down, just gotta turn the page and see what happens next. patience wanted an adventure before she started her job and she sure gets it. you gotta read this one!!!!

I liked the premise of this story, and even the relationship with Dallas and Patience. I loved watching the friendship of Patience and Shari, her travel companion. The life on the road was an interesting on to read about, the ups and downs and from town to town. The hang out and friendships that are made over the years. I was a bit put off by Dallas' sleeping with other women but still having his mind on Patience. If he couldn't get her out of his mind, why the heck was he sleeping with anything that offered? And I didn't really understand why he was so annoyed that she was getting her Ph.D. That was a big point of contention with them, and I don't see the issue. All in all, I thought it was an ok book, I am on the other hand, looking forward to reading her sister's book.

Couldn't put it down again. Kat Martin knows how to write a romance novel. The romance between Dallas and Patience was to die for. Could've left out the part about searching the history of dead relatives since they did nothing for the story, but it was still a good read. I wouldn't really consider anything I've read by Ms. Martin as suspense, but definitely a good romance. Loved it, it was HOT!! Can't wait to get started on Deep Blue.

Kat Martin has done it again. She writes a great story from beginning to end. I could hardly put it down. The romance between Patience and Dallas is wonderful. The plot is suspenseful. I can't wait to read the last Sinclair sister, Hope's story.

Patience Sinclaire was working on her Ph.D. by leaving the ivy-covered campus of Boston University for the wide, open spaces of Texas. It was a chance to stop looking over her shoulder at every turn. Traveling incognito with the Circle C Rodeo will help her finish her dissertation on the American West while hiding in plain sight. But she couldn't hide from Dallas Kingman. The champion rider makes it clear that he's watching her and he likes what he sees. But everything about Dallas, from his country drawl to his rugged Texas manners, is unfamiliar to Patience. And if there's anything she understands with clarity, it's what it costs to fall for the wrong man.As Dallas and Patience make their way through the heart of the southwest, a series of unexplained accidents turns the rodeo into a nightmare of fear and suspicion. Someone's obsession has turned deadly, and Patience has moved closer to danger than she ever could imagine in her wildest dreams.Fabulous story. It kept me on edge, kept me wanting more. One of the best I've read.

Patience and Dallas's story of following rodeo for a summer while patience works on his thesis prior to taking a associate professor job. Shari was her contact-a barrel racer who agreed to share a rv for the summer while she interviewed lady rodeo competitors. Shari dated Stormy who also was a cow roper while Dallas was a bronc buster. Patience and Dallas fell in love thru the summer but thought they had no future as a couple. But chances are for taking and sometimes you have to work together for love. Lots happening to make book real exciting and keeps reader on edge of your seat.
