An English village cozy that’s perfect for fans of M.C. Beaton and Simon Brett…

Location scout and Jane Austen fan, Kate Sharp, is thrilled when her company lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but after her boss fails to return from a scouting trip, Kate travels to England to salvage the company’s reputation before word gets out that he is missing. Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of her boss except his abandoned luggage.

Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub-crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors, but with no sign of her boss she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

Death in the English Countryside is the first installment of the popular Murder on Location cozy mystery series.

I really enjoy both of Sara's other series, On The Run, and the Ellie Avery series. So of  course I felt that I would enjoy the first book in Sara's new series, Murder on Location. But sadly I was wrong, I didn't like it, I loved it! Kate is our new leading lady who will do almost anything for her job as a film site locator, as she proves when she packs a bag and heads to England. Kate's boss Kevin has gone missing and Kate goes over to see if she can find him.  Sara gives her characters personalities that we have all run across in our lives. I have read hundreds of books that have held my interest, but this one went a little bit further. I was on the edge of my seat during the whole book, never expecting who the murderer turned out to be. Sara has asked her readers to let her know if we would like more Murder on Locations, I say absolutely. A copy of this book was sent to me by the author in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Loved this Book. Looking forward to more by this author! Good mystery intertwined with descriptions of the English countryside and Architecture. No bad language or steamy sex scenes which are disgusting to me. Just a good reading book to feel comfortable with.

I loved this book. Although not much information was given regarding the characters and their personalities it was a great read. I looked forward to picking the book back up every time I had to put it down. I look forward to reading more of Sara Rosett's books.

If you are looking for a fun, quick mystery read, then Death in the English Countryside is a good bet. The technical writing leaves something to be desired, but it's a good book for a snowy or rainy day!

Death in the English Countryside by Sara Rosett is a delightful cozy mystery. It is the first murder in the Murder on Location series. Kate Sharp works for Premier Locations in Hollywood as a location scout. She is also a Jane Austen aficionado thanks to her degree in English Literature. Her boss, Kevin has been in England scouting out locations for a feature film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. He never made it home. Kate is sent to England by Marci, Premier Locations office manager, to see what happened to Kevin (and make sure he is not on a bender). After arriving in Nether Woodsmoor (Kevin's last location), Kate connects up with Alex Norcutt, a local location scout, who was working with Kevin. Kate finds Kevin, but he is not alive. Kate is determined to find out who killed her boss and friend. Kate with the help of Alex follows the clues to find out who killed her friend. Death in the English Countryside is well written and a joy to read. I give it 4.25 out of 5 stars. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the English countryside. The mystery was good, believable. Main characters very likeable, which includes the village and its people. Read the second book too and will definitely look for more stories. I enjoyed learning about scouting locations and Jane Austen.

inally, another cozy mystery series I can enjoy! I fell in love with the characters early on, there was lots of mystery to the plot, the English countryside wooed me into the story, and the writing flowed. I could see this story in my mind as I read. Kate Sharp travels from L.A. to Nether Woodsmoor to look for her boss, who is MIA on a mission to scout for homes and estates as locations for a new Pride & Prejudice filming. There she meets Alex, a local scout who helps her look for her boss. That goal isn't easily reached, as they discover secrets around every corner, hiding the truth they are seeking. An excellent read, in fact, I've ordered the next book in the Murder on Location series, Death in an English Cottage. Besides the six other novels in the series, plus a novella, author Sara Rosett has written six novels in her On the Run series, and about a dozen other cozy mysteries. Read on! Lots to choose from.

The story starts out well and moves along at a nice clip then in the middle everything bogs down like hitting an unexpected speed bump. Then without much warning it is mystery solved. In my opinion this was a short story that had some stuff thrown in to make a sembalance of a novel.

Enough of a mystery with small English village appeal. No blood, gore or sex but interesting insight on scouting for movie locations. Some family drama, too.

Just the right number of characters. Good descriptions of English countryside. Gives you insight into another way of life. Nice light romantic touch, but not a romance novel. A good read!
