Be Careful What You Wish For. . .

Only a woman with nothing left to lose knocks on a vampire's door and asks for help. Shannah Davis is convinced that the mysterious dark-haired man she's followed for months can save her life—if he doesn't kill her first. But though Ronan insists he can't give her what she needs, his kiss unleashes a primal hunger that makes her feel truly alive for the first time.

After centuries of existence, Ronan has done the unthinkable. He has fallen in love with a mortal—and one with only weeks to live. Sensing the fear and reluctance beneath Shannah's request, he offers her a different bargain that will keep her near him during the time she has left. Every hour spent together leaves him craving her touch, her scent, her life's essence. Soon, only Shannah can satisfy his thirst. But if he saves her from death, will she love him for it—or spend eternity regretting what she has become?

Amanda Ashley is one of those rare birds—a California native. She's lived in Southern California her whole life and, except for the earthquakes, she loves it. Shannah Davis did not wish to die although it seemed inevitable. The doctors could not find a cure, resulting in 24 year old Shannah¿s failing health and impending death. In search of the one thing that could save her from death, what would she do once she found him? Pass out on his doorstep? After following her mysterious dark clothed stranger for almost 5 months, she tempted fate. If he truly was a vampire he would be able to make her immortal, but if he was just a regular man, she was doomed to die. If offered the Dark Gift, would her mortal heart accept? Ronan knew he was being followed by the girl, he just didn¿t expect to see her at this time of day. When Shannah fainted on his doorstep, he braved the sun to bring her inside. The droplets of blood from the fall were all too tempting when he tasted her, he tasted death. Ronan needed Shannah and it was obvious Shannah needed Ronan. He offered her a tempting deal, in which she accepted. Pretended to be his pseudonym as a romance author, go on tour and do book signings as it was hardly believable that a man could write such enticing stories. Shannah enjoyed the fame for a time, until the hunter showed up. Love finds Ronan after 513 years, but she is a mortal and dying. Shannah does not know the truth about Ronan, he never admitted to being a vampire, but does the heart care? When you go in search of something, make sure you¿re willing to accept the consequences. How will Shannah feel when Ronan makes a decision for the both of them that can possibly drive Shannah away? Will Ronan be able to live with his breaking heart? Amanda Ashley¿s vampire romance novel, Dead Perfect is compelling! Ms. Ashley has the thrall of a vampire on her side. I started reading Dead Perfect right before bed, and my very first thought when I awoke was, ¿I need to finish that book!¿ Amanda Ashley¿s vivid characters and fantastic storyline were remarkable! Ms. Ashley has been a favorite of mine for years, and never once has she let me down. Dead Perfect has just raised the bar on Vampire Romance. 5 Hearts

She is dying and has little time left yet Shannah Dover has hope because of a man she has seen each night. Curious about him she starts to follow him and begins to believe he is a vampire. She follows him to his home and knocks on the door and when he opens it her hopes are dashed because the sun is still out. Ronan is a vampire but can stand the daylight a little and he sees the sickness in her and gives her some of his blood and makes her forget about it. He is a romance writer writing under a female pseudonym and has an agent who wants him to go on a book tour. He convinces Shannah to impersonate him and each time the illness threatens her, he gives her more time by having her drink his blood. Soon he is in love with the dying mortal but she no longer wants to be a vampire. The thought of losing her tears him apart however, he believes if he turns her without her consent she will hate him. --- Amanda Ashley is one of this reviewer¿s favorite vampire romance writers. Her Byronic vampires are filled with angst and have a gentleness about them that appeals to the mortals they love. Ronan is 513 years old and a power vampire who knows fear for the first time in centuries because he knows love and is afraid it will be taken from him. Shannah is a strong-willed brave woman who wants to love but accepts that unless a miracle occurs she is doomed. DEAD PERFECT is the perfect books for readers of the vampire romances. --- Harriet Klausner

Normally I do not like romance at all, but I really enjoyed this book. If you are looking for something out of your confort zone, I would pick this book up and as you will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed reading this book, but at times it felt like there wasn't very much happening. The "villains" (a little team consisting of a vampire hunter and a reporter) aren't much of a threat to the main characters, they're just an annoying distraction whenever they appear - which isn't very often. It's a bit predictable and there's not very much suspense, but I liked the love story and thought this book was pleasant to read.

After a somewhat promising start, this novel fizzled out. Shannah is dying from a mysterious disease. Ronan is a sexy vampire/romance writer. Shannah confronts Ronan and asks him to save her by turning her into a vampire. He convinces her that he's not a vampire, just a reclusive writer, and convinces her to go on a book signing tour posing as "Eva Black," the pseudonym he uses for writing romances. The two of them are interesting characters, but the secondary characters are nothing but cardboard cutouts to advance the slow drawn-out plot. The so-called vampire hunter is pathetic and not threatening in the least. Shannah's alleged best friend is mentioned twice in the novel. Ronan's vampire friends are so bland and nondescript that even the author can't keep them straight. "Valerie looks young because she was only fourteen or fifteen when she was brought across, but that was over a thousand years ago" (226). "Except for Pete Sandoval, all the vampires Ronan had introduced her to were young in the life" (234). No suspense, no sex, no point in reading it.

At the end of the summer I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for her soon to be released novel Dead Perfect. I finally got around to reading it and it didn't disappoint. Very good read, I definitely recommend reading it. The author being a lover of vampires, has created great vampire characters time and time again. This time is no different. Although this is a vampire novel it is also a very tender and sweet romance. This is the first Paranormal Romance novel that I read that isn't bogged down by sex scenes, not that that is a bad thing. ;)Shannah is dying and there's nothing she can do to stop it. Until she spots a man who she thinks might be a vampire. Without knowing what she really wants she starts to stalk him. But when they finally meet, he offers her something that she wasn't even looking for....

I really did not enjoy this. I have been reading far too many vampire books recently and as a result someone from my work lent this book and told me to read it because it was super good. I read about half of the book before I put it down. Its about a girl who is dying who befriends a vampire (she is unaware of this) who in turn feeds her blood while she is sleeping to help her feel better. The writing is amateur and I didn't enjoy it at all. I give this book 1 star out of 5.
