This is a full book, not a cliffhanger. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance, the storyline, and the characters. The story of childhood trauma's impact on an adult's life was handled well and gave an insightful view into the consequences of dealing with childhood tragedies as adults. And the sex is hot!!!

Ian Dare is a force to be reckoned with and Riley Taylor is just the right woman to tame him! The relationship these two characters have is intense and down right explosive at times...its full of passion, sexual tension, and will keep you captivated to the very last page! I "Dare" you to pick up this book, I promise you will not be disappointed, left breathless at times, but defintely NOT disappointed!

Reviewed by Mona for Read Your Writes Book Reviews Ian Dare does not want to be at his father's birthday party. He only shows up for his sisters. They may have forgiven their father for hurting the family, but he has not. When he is about to leave, his sister's plead with him to stay. And this is when he see's her. He has no idea who she is, but she is on the arm of his step-brother. His sister Olivia goes up to him saying I thought you were leaving. He tells her I changed my mind. When Riley Taylor walks into the ballroom with Alex Dare, her best friend, she feels someone staring at her and then she sees him. She is unaware of who he is. As the night progresses and Ian makes his move when she is by herself, things get a little heated. But the only problem is Riley is there with Alex. Riley informs Ian that she and Alex are just friends, Ian really likes this. Ian and Riley both have demons in their closets so to speak and don't do relationships. So what they're doing is new to them. Both Ian and Riley have trust and control issues. The questions is will they be able to trust one another? Things get very intense when they’re together. The heat and passion between Riley and Ian is incredible and is smoldering HOT. Dare to Love is a touching and heartwarming book. It catches you off guard and will leave your heart pounding fast. The love and friendship with the secondary characters is wonderful. Carly takes you on a ride of emotions in this book and I loved every minute of it. Source: Author

Once again Carly Phillips does not disappoint! I know this was a departure for her, putting out her first self published work, but she certainly had nothing to worry about as this book drew me in immediately and I read it in less than a day. The characters of Ian and Riley were both dealing with demons from their respective childhoods and while neither one of them was looking for a relationship, they both knew early on that they had a connection with each other that they had never experienced with anyone else. Not only were they both trying to come to terms with the aforementioned demons, they also had the stumbling block of Ian's half brother and Riley's best friend, Alex, with whom Ian has never gotten along with for a myriad of reasons. As the attraction and relationship continues to evolve and change both Riley and Ian, a dark part of Riley's past rears its ugly head bringing to light trust and control issues for both of them. The question becomes can they overcome their insecurities and trust the love they have for one another? This was a quick paced, well developed story that rates high on the HOT meter and makes you want to root for both Riley and Ian. You won't be sorry you picked it up and I can't wait for Alex's story next spring!

The path to trust is balanced between family history and taking risks with a lover in the present. There are lots of steps to take to make a relationship work.

I really enjoyed this book and I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the dynamic between Riley and Ian. And even between the rest of the Dare family. I'm excited to read the rest of these!

Two different people with similar fears meet and know they are immediately connected. The problems start when they do connect, which makes this sexy story in healing each other, with the help of HIS separate loving families, a great read.

Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I’ve been a fan of Carly Phillips for a while and for some reason I hadn’t picked up her new series Dare to Love yet.  I have no idea why and I’m kicking myself now for waiting this long, but also there’s the added benefit that now I have quite a few books I can read without waiting between releases. Our hero is Ian is just alpha enough for my liking and Riley definitely gives him a run for it.  She’s struggling to come out on top on her own in life and in her career.  Overcoming a lot of obstacles.  Ian is extremely successful but has been dealing with the effects of finding out his father had another whole family outside of his marriage to his mother.  Even after all this time he still can’t forgive him.  So when the woman he wants, Riley, is his stepbrothers best friend, it only adds fuel to his fire. One of my favorite things to read about in sweet contemporary romance are families.  I immediately became connected with this one, both Ian’s immediate sisters and his stepbrother whom I need to know more about stat!  There were enough glimpses into each of the members of this family to make you want to read this whole series right away and know what happens with each one. The chemistry between Riley and Ian was missing a little bit of umpfh which is my only complaint about the story.  And I don’t mean in the bedroom, just their every day connection.  And Riley’s decisions in the end (which go back to her insecurities) felt thrown in a bit to add to the drama.  Even so, I enjoyed this installment a lot. I’ve also been a fan of Sophie Eastlake’s narrations in the past and I think she did an excellent job with this story!  I will looking for the rest of this series on audio for sure. DARE TO LOVE is my type of summer read.  A story centered around a family that is just a bit dysfunctional.  This was sweet and sexy and it drew me in as always Ms. Phillips knows how to do.  If you are looking for a series to devour this summer, then maybe you should consider this one!  I know I plan to.

This book is written in the signature Phillips’ style. There is a large interconnected family with issues; when dad has two complete families there is bound to be conflict. There are sports heroes and rival football teams. There is a hard-headed hero and a heroine that more than holds her own. The secondary characters are well-developed and will provide the basis for future books. Each of the siblings deserves their own HEA, so I’m hopeful she has plans for eight books / novellas; or at least a couple slightly longer ones with secondary sub-plots. She’s on book nine in the Serendipity series, so eight installments is not outside the bounds of reality. The heat level, however, is not what her regular readers may expect. There is definitely a greater focus on the sexy and less of a focus on the sweet with this novel. The physical connection between the hero and heroine becomes a strong driving force facilitating their emotional bond. If forced to give this novel a classification I would likely label it light-erotica. Our hero, Ian Dare, is a very dominant hero. As the oldest he struggles the most with his father’s betrayal by second family. He doesn’t trust easily and his ability to let others in is almost non-existent. His desire for control extends to the bedroom, making him overbearing, to a point. With any other heroine I might have had fewer issues with it. Riley is a domestic abuse survivor. That coupled with Ian’s need to be in control, threw me a bit. I think that their interactions are believable by the end, but there was a little too much too soon. With the exception of the control issues, I really enjoyed Riley and Ian. I’m really interested to see where Phillips goes with this series. She is spreading her wings and taking chances. I’m not sure where those chances are going to take her and I’m looking forward to going along for the ride.

I really enjoyed the story of Ian and Riley. They say love can heal all wounds and this story pulls that off. Both face their fear, learn to forgive and work on their communication. Things everyone in a relationship could take to heart. All-in-all a wonderful read with my favorite type of ending.....a HEA.

Family drama, Emotional history and Huge trust issues are just a few of the obstacles they must overcome if they really want a peaceful future. Extremely entertaining late-night read that draws you in and does not let go. Ian is the oldest Dare sibling he is also wicked smart and total alpha male completely in control of every aspect of his world (or so it seems). He is so not looking for everlasting love (since in his opinion it is not real). Loved every heart pounding twist and turn on this emotional journey to self-discovery and personal growth leading to their possible future. Excited to read more about the rest of the family.
