My mother read this book to my brother and I when we were children. It is one of the best memories I have of spending time with my mother and older brother. I recently purchased this for my nephew for his 1st birthday so that when he is older his dad (my older brother) can read it to him too!

I bought this book several years ago for my own children. They liked it so much that when I started to teach kindergarten I decided to read it to my class on a trial basis. The children were delighted. It took about a week to finish and they immediately wanted it read again. I read it just as it is written, even though the language seems difficult. The pictures are magnificent and the story is just as exciting now as it must have been when it was written. I am just now reading it once again to this year's class (fifteen years after the first class I read it to.) Some of the children want their own copies so I am looking into order a number for them through Barnes and Noble. The price is excellent. I would encourage anyone to read this classic, and to buy it for a child and his/her family. Lyn John
