Bloody comic book collection about crooks and the last big job . Reminiscent of his run on Daredevil, Ed Brubaker brings us the story of a small-time crook who gets involved in a major heist with many unsavoury characters and which inevitably takes a turn for the worse through double-crossing, wheeling and dealing and betrayal. A lot of dead bodies ensue. The artwork and story-writing are powerful and I’d recommend this to all lovers of crime stories.

I'm a huge Brubaker fan and I was really interested in reading this volume of Criminal. I don't know what I was expecting but I think I was expecting more. This seemed like I was watching a movie panel by panel. That's not a bad thing but usually not my cup of tea. Phillips art works really well for this story style I just wished the storytelling wasn't as predictable. Just an okay read.

Another Great Comic book, for people who generally DONT LIKE COMIC BOOKS. Ed Brubaker is well known for his work with Batman, Captain america, and Daredevil, but 'criminal' is anything but a superhero comic. No tights, no Cosmic superpowers, and no fate of the galaxy here. Without having to worry about the continuity of 50 year old comic book icons, Brobaker is free to tell a story with honesty and realism. With his love for crime noir and pulp comics, he decided to reinvent the genre for modern comics, and really put his heart into it. Brubaker is a master of storytelling and finding ways to connect the audience to characters, by plausible backstories, and honest naritives. 'criminal' is not just about crime, action and suspense, it's about real people with real problems. If you liked 'no country for olf men' you will love 'coward'. The Intense situations that the characters find themselves in twist and turn them all inside out and force each of them to expose their humanity or inhumainty to the reader. Great writing, Great art, Great experience. READ THIS!
