'Is there life after Conceptual art?' This is a question asked in one of the texts in Cream3 , and might serve as a theme running through much of the art presented here. In this, the third book in Phaidon's 'biennale' of new artists, one sense a set of shared interests uniting much of the work, perhaps more noticeably than in the previous two. As with earlier Cream (1998) and Fresh Cream(2000), Phaidon asked ten contemporary art curators, all known for their integrity and expertise in staging presentations of new art on an international level, each to select ten important new artists. These 100 artists have either emerged internationally over roughly the past five years, or are still relatively unknown. No limitations as to age, geography or media were imposed.
