Murder, mystery and mayhem abound in this exciting thriller. An intricately woven, intelligently written story with plenty of intrigue, I was hooked from the very first page. It was fast paced, with layer upon layer of suspense and chaos. I was thrilled to go along for the ride as Rick literally raced against time to unravel a scandalous story that could very well lead to his own demise. Exhilarating and nerve-wracking, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a stellar read!

While i enjoyed the story, the poor page layouts with single column words broken sentences and other layout anomalies were very distracting and made reading this book an effort rather than entertaining.

I am not done yet. But I can't sit on my hands. I met Terry Irving while he was doing a signing at the Falls Church Coleman PowerSports and bought a copy there and has him sign it. I picked it up when I went to bed that same night and when I looked up, it was 3:30AM.  That hasn't happened for years. I am a DC resident of 25-years, a BMW motorcyclist, and also a retired DC courier (bike) and the novel is legit -- a totally accurate DC book, including restaurants, politics, etc. Well-written, too. But surely an over-the-top story line along the lines of the TV show Scandal, if scandal took place in DC in the 70s.  Also, similar to Homeland, if Homeland took place in the 70s. If you like well-written, page-turning, novels about conspiracy, get this. If you like books that are about normal schmos stumbling into high-strangeness, a world where people are dying, people are being disappeared and shushed, and all that -- as in normal DC crisis management -- then you'll love the book. If you've lived in DC for a while, you'll love this book -- it's surely a star of the book.  And so, too, is the BMW R50/2 that also stars. If you're a motorcyclist, love riding, love BMW bikes, or even if you were a bike courier, you'll love it. It's exciting, implausible, and also completely addicting. I have another hundred pages to go, but I couldn't wait to write my initial impressions.

In his debut novel, Courier, author Terry Irving weaves an exhilarating and fast paced political thriller with a historical twist. Rick Putnam is a Vietnam Vet and motorcycle courier for one of Washington D.C.'s leading television stations. The Vietnam War has taken its toll on Rick, after recovering from his war wounds, he suffers from PTSD and his method of escaping his demons and the memories of the war that continue to haunt him is by riding his motorcycle at breakneck speeds down the streets and alleys of the capital. When Rick picks up a roll of news film from a correspondent and news crew, he later finds out that the film contains the potential of a very hot and damaging story, and that the correspondent and news crew have been killed. What he doesn't realize is that he's next on the killer's list. With one fast motorcycle and a little help from friends, Rick is determined to figure out who is after him and why ... a discovery that will lead him all the way to the White House! Courier is a gritty and gripping political thriller that takes the reader on one hell of a roller coaster ride. From Vietnam to the White House, Nixon to Watergate, author Terry Irving transports the reader back to 1972 Washington D.C., an era of turmoil in US history. The author utilizes his past media experience to weave an intriguing tale that is rich in vivid descriptions and historical information. One can only wonder if the author instilled a bit of himself into Rich, as he is also a motorcycle enthusiast who began his career as a media motorcycle courier. I loved following Rich story's, he is a realistic and flawed man who the reader can easily relate to, you can't help but feel for him as he struggles with the residue of his time in Vietnam while trying to put his life back together. With a fascinating cast of characters; witty dialogue and gripping interactions; and a riveting action packed storyline with chase scenes, danger, political drama, exciting twists and turns, and even a romantic love story thrown into the mix; Courier is a captivating historical political thriller that will keep you on your toes and turning the pages. I could easily see this novel being made into a movie, it is a must read that won't leave you disappointed!

the story & characters was very good, however, when they converted the book into a e-format, it didn't work that well. Several times in the story words were cut out/up so that they weren't complete and one had to spend time deciding if 'fi' meant fire or film. also several times, the words were put horizontally but vertically. in other instances, when two people were talking, the whole conversation was in one paragraph. Very annoying. For these reasons, I'd not recommend this book

Loved the the story, the typos were a littl distracting

An action packed story with lots of twists and turns. Some of the chases got a little to long and technicle. If you read fast throudh them you did not miss any of the story.

Fast paced. Missing words and bad formatting made it a little difficult to follow at some points. I expect the motercyle scenes would be more interesting to those with riding. experience

Fast-paced, moving and authentic. Irving captures the feel of DC life in the Watergate era, gives us characters to care about and, even better, villains who aren't cardboard cutouts, but real people whose histories and life choices landed them on the wrong side in this narrative. But damn, I wish the publisher had someone on staff who understands typesetting, formatting and proofreading.

The typos are hideous, but the story, direct and to the point, would make one hell of a movie. Great stuff!

But not for me...too much about the races, chases, speed and so on...page after page of this type of action makes it dull.
