In this official autobiography from four-time Olympic gold-winning and record-setting American gymnast Simone Biles, Simone shares how her faith, family, passion, and perseverance against tremendous odds helped make her one of the top athletes and record-breaking gymnasts in the world—now with 25 world championship medals.

Simone Biles’ entrance into the world of gymnastics may have started on a daycare field trip in her hometown of Spring, Texas, but her God-given talent, along with drive to succeed no matter the obstacle, are what brought her to the national spotlight during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and have catapulted her ever since—including becoming the first gymnast in competition to land a double-twisting somersault on beam and the first woman to land a triple double on floor.

But there is more to Simone than the medals—nineteen of them world championship gold. Through years of hard work and determination, she has relied on her faith and family to stay focused and positive, while having fun competing at the highest level and doing what she loves. Here, in her own words, Simone takes you through the events, challenges, and trials that carried her from an early childhood in foster care to a coveted spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

Along the way, Simone shares the details of her inspiring personal story—one filled with the kinds of daily acts of courage that led her, and can lead you, to even the most unlikely of dreams.

About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Simone Biles is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and a three-time World all-around gymnastics champion. In 2015 at the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, she became the only female gymnast to ever win three consecutive all-around titles. She is also the most decorated American female gymnast, with a total of nineteen medals, fourteen of them gold. Simone, who was born in Ohio and later adopted by her grandparents in Texas, began her training at age 6. During a serendipitous day care field trip to Bannon’s Gymnastix, a coach recognized Simone’s natural talent and sent home a letter to her parents, requesting that they enroll her in a class. Simone rose quickly through the sport’s levels, and in 2011, she began her junior elite career at the American Classics in Huntsville, Texas, where she placed third all-around. Amid a few setbacks in the following two seasons, Simone rebounded in 2013 to claim the first of her three all-around World Championship titles. With her strong faith in God and her triumph against the odds, Simone is inspiring millions to dream big and follow their hearts.

I don’t know about you all, but I loved watching the Olympics this summer, and every four years. I am always inspired by the gymnasts and their stories of how far they’ve come–their struggles and triumphs, their hopes and fears. I love watching as they progress throughout the Games, and usually go on Dancing with the Stars and write a biography; I eat it up, as do many young girls. This year’s champion, medalist, and author is Simone Biles. My younger sister, her best friend, people everywhere in my community were talking about her, amazed and her accomplishments and helicopter turns on the balance beam. Thus, when I saw the opportunity to get this book, I jumped at the chance. My sister and her friend ate it up, and the life story of Biles became a common topic of conversation between them. Biles’s story greatly inspired the two of them to pursue fitness and faith, and I loved seeing the joy that they received from Biles’s book. I would highly recommend this to fans of Biles and gymnastics in general! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I tend to stay away from nonfiction novels, but i think I'm slowly coming around to them! I'm so glad I picked this one up. It was so inspiring to see how Simone's journey began, and to see what she went through along the way. I could really hear Simone's voice in Courage To Soar. I loved hearing her side of things; seeing everything through her eyes. It really felt like like she was right there telling me everything! It reminded me that there is a long road to achieving your dream, but you can always accomplish it if you set your mind to it! I loved loved loved hearing her story. It was so interesting, and i found myself laughing & smiling at the stories she told!! I felt her anxiety, and i felt her excitement with the things she experienced. Courage to Soar was such a fast paced novel, and it was so hard to quit reading. Sure, the writing was a bit simple, but it was very well pieced together, and we never talked about one thing longer than necessary. There isn't anything i didn't like about this novel (which rarely happens!). I highly recommend this to anyone, young or old; big or small!! It was such an encouraging & heartfelt story that will make you love Simone even more. Huge thanks to BookLookBloggers for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review!! Simone reveals her inner thoughts as she makes history. Her humanity revealed.

It is in my opinion, that people should read this book before watching the movie. Yes, there are parallels from the book to the movie. On the other hand, information was redacted from the movie, that would surprise many who read this piece of literature. It highlights that Simone Biles is truly one of us - an average person with life obstacles.
