I've enjoyed all the books I've thus read by Catherine Coulter but this one I just can't seem to get into. I normally can polish off a book like this w/in a few hours but this is taking me forever and I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it. I first found the first person POV a little disconcerting but I've read other gothic style romances that were written this way to flow easily and quickly. This one just seems to not get to the point of the story and goes around and around and I'm only like 1/4 of the way done. I have a hard time w/the main character "Andy" she just annoys me for some reason w/her attitude at the beginning towards John. This is the only book of hers that I just wouldn't recommend to read.

The Countess, (originally The Autumn Countess) by Catherine Coulter. Okay, it was her first novel and it shows, even with her rewrite, but still worth finishing. This was written in the style of Regency Romance with the slight twist that the heroine is independent, both temperament and money. Three stars.

Ive read most of the authors book and this is my least. It was easy to figure all the clues up. Also the book was in a one person point of view unlike her other books. Not worth the cost.

Couldn't get into the story at all, and knew it was bad when i kept checking the page number to see if i would finally make it to the end.

Hi, this book just blew me away and took me on an unforgettable journey. I couldn't put it down although I tried a few times, to get some sleep (LAUGHS). Catherine Coulter did an excellent job capturing my attention from start to finish. I fell inlove with the characters and rooted for Andy and John to triumph over their psychotic enemies. Thank You Catherine Coulter for writting such a wonderful tale, which I adore and will revel in reading it over and over again.

I thought this book was very disappointing because the books I read before by Mrs.Coulter was exceptional but this book just lacked in action. Also another thing I didn't like was the fact that I didn't know why Andy (the main character) was afraid of John until about the middle of the book. This book was only alright

I normally don't buy my novels from the local CVS store, but when I read the back of the book I was instantly interested, so I broke down and bought it (though it had not been my first drug store romance, the only other one I had enjoyed was Ransom). When I began reading the book I was thrown off balance by the first person narration, but it really added something to the story, it made it seem almost real, like an autobiography. I thought that the story was well put together and intriguing. I couldn't put it fact I finished it in 7 hours (I started it like at 8pm and stayed up well into the night). It was highly romantic and I thought that John and Peter were great guys. I hope that Ms. Coulter decides to write a book featuring Peter Wilton. Now if you like high sensuality, you won't find it in this book, it is almost strictly a story about a woman who is caught up in lies and revenge with ROMANCE (as in falling in love) as a subplot.
