Conrad was nervous.
Today was the day he would take his first flight from the nest!
I'm scared," he thought, How do all the other birds do it? It's so far down!
He stood on the edge of the nest looking down.
"Maybe I will wait, he said,
"Yes; I will stay in the nest forever who needs to fly?"
All of a sudden, Conrad heard something!
Yippee! Yahoo! Yehaw!
Conrad looked over the edge of his nest to see his friends jumping into the air from their nests! They were excited! And they were flying!
"Wow," though Conrad, "I want to have fun too!" But when he got to the edge of his nest, he was afraid again.
I'll never be brave enough to jump," he said
Just then, Father Bird landed next to him on the nest. "Conrad," he asked, "why are you sitting here on the nest? All of your friends are flying."
"I'm scared," said Conrad. "Of what?" asked Father Bird. "That I could fall," said Conrad sadly.
Father Bird put a wing around him and said, "Well Conrad, you might. Some of us fall a lot before we really learn how to fly."
