Cherry Tree based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Critique: Genre: This story takes place in India, allowing the growth of the tree to be affected by the weather and realistic dangers that occur in India. For example, the author describes how the monsoon rains come early, and how the type of soil affects how the tree grows. This story could easily occur in India and would be easier for children growing up there to be familiar with, and relate to the story. Setting: The setting of this story occurs in India, in the Himalayan foothills. This is important because the weather that affects the growth of the cheery tree is based off of the typical weather that occurs there during that part of the year. Similarly, the clothing that the characters wear, and what they look like, is affected by them living in India. The setting makes the story more affective and would not be the same without it. It also helps explain the obstacles the tree faces, because of what doesn't allow it to grow (for example the goat eating the leaves). Media: collage
