JACK ROSE had a rough start just coming into this world. Then, unimaginable abuse, neglect and, ultimately, rejection by two dysfunctional families led to his being on his own at the age of thirteen. He wasn't a runaway. He describes himself as more of a castaway. Jack, however, was smart, resourceful and not afraid of hard work nor whatever it took to survive.
A lesser person would have given in to self pity and a wasted life. Jack, instead, used his experiences as building blocks for a better future. Forced to support himself from a young age he had a series of part-time and, eventually, full-time jobs made interesting by Jack's gift for story telling.
Expelled from school in ninth grade for defending himself in a fight in which his attacker's leg was broken, Jack's formal education ended. However, at age 17 he earned his GED and joined the United States Navy. Having survived his Vietnam experiences working with Navy SEALS—which Jack promises to cover in a separate book— the Navy became his springboard to a college degree and greater earning power.
Jack possesses a restless spirit and the self-confidence to try new places and new jobs, even to create new businesses. With his natural affinity for business and money management Jack carved out a successful life as a businessman, a career spanning several decades and one which he still enjoys.
Above all, Jack is a people person. Throughout the story of his extraordinary life he sketches chance meetings, memorable characters met along the way, employers, co-workers, employees, and friends. Jack values good people. In his world good friends and good wine are perfectly paired.
