CBEST: California Basic Education Skills Test based on 0 ratings. 4 reviews.
I had about a month to review and this book helped me to focus on the areas that needed the most review and figure out where my week areas were. I found the mini lessons to be good because it didn't feel overwhelming if you broke it up into thirty minute lessons each and studied over a period of time. The diagnostic test was also helpful at the beginning for determining which areas I was already strong in. I never even got to using the CD, but I imagine if someone needs a lot of review, this book will provide it for you, and if you are taking the online test and feel shaky about computers, using the CD might help with that.
Goog organization. Easy to understand. Comprehensive disclosure of what is on the test and how to prepare and take it.
At first I thought I was just way out of touch. Then I went back and compared my answers a second time. The book will say the correct answer is "b" and then give the explanation, which results in correct answer being "d". This has happened enough times that now I'm going to have to go out and buy another test prep book because I just don't trust this one.
I am a professional math tutor. I have been working with students preparing for this test for the past 14 years. Of all the books that I have used, this has been the best one. The questions are right in line with what the CBEST asks. It is straight forward in the help sections. The only real problem that I have encountered, if you could call it that, is that the pages are numbered per chapter, which can get confusing.
