Overview

In a dramatic account of violence and espionage, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Ronan Farrow exposes serial abusers and a cabal of powerful interests hell-bent on covering up the truth, at any cost.

In 2017, a routine network television investigation led Ronan Farrow to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood's most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.
All the while, Farrow and his producer faced a degree of resistance they could not explain -- until now. And a trail of clues revealed corruption and cover-ups from Hollywood to Washington and beyond.

This is the untold story of the exotic tactics of surveillance and intimidation deployed by wealthy and connected men to threaten journalists, evade accountability, and silence victims of abuse. And it's the story of the women who risked everything to expose the truth and spark a global movement.

Both a spy thriller and a meticulous work of investigative journalism, Catch and Kill breaks devastating new stories about the rampant abuse of power and sheds far-reaching light on investigations that shook our culture.

This book tells why the Harvey Weinstein reporting started at NBC but had to move to the New Yorker. Ronan Farrow always said he would tell this story. Now he has. I couldn't put this book down.

I heard about this in the news and it seemed odd to me that the guy I watched on the Today Show (my new hero) was suddenly an outcast being interviewed on the same show about a huge story. He is so brave for going up against Goliath and doing what was right. I could not put this book down. It was well written, didn't drag on and I was able to keep up with all of the craziness. It's such a good book... I'm truly sad it's all true. It would make a great non-fiction read. I'm hoping to see this become a movie. Thank you to Mr. Farrow and to all of the brave people who spoke and brought this darkness to light.

Loved the book. Finished in two days (while still working full-time), because I can't put it down! I appreciate Farrow's writing, moral fiber, and humor. I also have been a long-time fan of the New Yorker. This book strengthens my conviction that they are a solid publication.
