Overview

In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer---or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World's Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they've encountered before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him---and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device---is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end---together and in love---or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

I loved this book as much as the previous 3. I'm in mourning though, I have loved reading about Audrey Rose, and Thomas's adventures. Sad to see them be done now.

In the final book of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series Audrey and Thomas must catch the most diabolic killer they have ever faced. Do they have any hope of capturing this devil? It was both wonderful and bittersweet following Audrey and Thomas on their final case. The descriptions of both New York and Chicago were beautifully written and I really felt I was standing there with the characters taking it all in. I was happy to see characters return from past books. The author picked the perfect final villain and love that she even used words out of his own mouth in one part of the book. This book had some really great plot twists which I didn't see coming. I loved all the Thomas and Audrey moments in this book. The good, the bad and every moment in between made them grow closer and they are just perfect for each other. Thomas is one of my favorite book boyfriends he is always so thoughtful and sweet with Audrey and always has me swooning. Audrey's bravery and how she always follows her dreams even when society tells her not to make her one of my favorite heroines. I will miss Audrey, Thomas, and Co. but the ending was perfect. I can't imagine a better ending for Audrey and Thomas. Rating: 5 stars

Friggin fabulous book!!!! I can't say it enough how much I adore this fantabulous series!!!! From book 1 Stalking Jack The ripper to this 4 th and final book Capturing the devil. Audrey rose and Thomas are incredible and watching their journey has been intoxicating and I don't think I will ever forget this couple!!! Kerri Maniscalco is a fabulous storyteller and her words flow with beauty and grace. I have loved how she has taken intriguing characters from the past and brought them back to life. From Jack the ripper to dracula to houdini to the infamous H.H. Holmes. I've watched and read a lot about the connection between Jack the ripper and americas first seriel killer HH holmes and loved how Kerri interwove it into capturing the devil. I don't know how many times I stopped reading this book just so I could take a deep breath! So many twists and turns for these lovers, but Kerri did a awesome job on wrapping up their story. Also we got to read more about the mysterious and sexy bad boy Ayden!!! I would love to read more about him,I need to know more about his past. He is a very intriguing character with many secrets. Can't wait to see what's next for this amazingly talented writer! Until next time luv's

I still remember when Stalking Jack the Ripper was about to come out. I was a little iffy on it because although I liked mysteries, I wasn't completely sold on the historical fiction aspect. But now after finishing this last book in that series, I'm so glad I didn't miss out. omas and Audrey Rose are now in America. They're here to track down aother killer, more grusome than America has seen before. Will they catch them, or is has this crime fighting duo met their match? Of course Maniscalco's prose was still amazing. I loved the way she's not afraid to be gory. It's what originally drew me into this series in the first place. This one was just the same. The same great gore, and the same great mystery, and the same great storytelling. I felt like I was swept off to the morgue to help them and I didn't want to leave. (add that to sentences I never thought I'd type) And of course I still loved the characters. Thomas is still the crazy weirdo guy that I liked from the very beginning. And Audrey is still the headstrong, brave, smart girl from the series. She's still the reason I liked this series so much. Strong female lead and an interest in STEM. HUZZAH! However, for this to be a finale to a series, I wish it had more bodies and less lovey dovey times. (Again, add that to sentences I never thought I'd type) I fell in love with this story because of the science and the way it was like horror and mystery mixed together. This took most of that away and made it more of a love story. Normally I wouldn't complain, because it doesn't leave any loose ends, but still. I just wanted more I guess. As for the historical aspect, I have to say I'm a bit surprised. I had never even heard of H.H. Holmes. (I'm a very weird and morbid person who does random research like this all the time.) At the end Maniscalco gives us an author's note, but I did a bit more. I was trying to figure out what made her choose him. I'm not sure what made her go with this guy, but he was definitely a good choice because I learned a lot that I didn't know before. I still can't believe this is the end. Although there weren't any questions left unanswered, I still have more. What happens now? Where do they go from here? What ever happened to them? Hopefully we see them later on in other books by Maniscalco.

I hate endings. But this conclusion has been one of my favorites to date. I love this story, I love these characters and I love Cressworth!

Capturing the Devil, the fourth and final book in Kerri Maniscalco’s thrilling Stalking Jack the Ripper series, is every bit as heart-pounding as you’d expect it to be. Picking up a few weeks after where Escaping from Houdini left off, Capturing the Devil finds Audrey Rose and Thomas trying to settle into a sort of new normal. But, of course, things never work out as planned for the two and danger (as well as murder) is never too far behind them. When a curious number of women start being murdered in eerily similar ways to Jack the Ripper’s victims back in London, Audrey Rose and Thomas must drop everything and make their way to Chicago, the so-called White City that’s less shiny than it appears on the surface. But as they begin to investigate the connections between recent murders, unexplainable disappearances, and the monster killing women in East London, the duo learn some unsettling truths about the case they thought they solved months ago and must face their most fearsome and dangerous foe yet: The Devil. First off, I need to confess something: H.H. Holmes has been (and most likely will always be) a sort of personal obsession of mine. Born and raised in Chicago, there’s just something about this aspect of my favorite city’s dark past that I can never truly get over. I’m not a “fan” of H.H. Holmes, per say, because he was an absolute monster and did horrific things to unsuspecting young women (as well as men and children), but he has always fascinated me. So believe me when I say that I could not have been more excited the moment that Kerri Maniscalco announced that the fourth and final book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series would be titled Capturing the Devil. Before she even made it explicit that Audrey Rose and Thomas would be making their way to my city, I knew exactly which monster this novel would highlight. Not only that, but I had a pretty good feeling about how as well. And, true to form, Kerri Maniscalco did not disappoint. *Read my full review on Hypable*
