Overview

A gang of thieves stage a daring heist from a secure vault deep below Princeton University’s Firestone Library. Their loot is priceless, but Princeton has insured it for twenty-five million dollars.
Bruce Cable owns a popular bookstore in the sleepy resort town of Santa Rosa on Camino Island in Florida. He makes his real money, though, as a prominent dealer in rare books. Very few people know that he occasionally dabbles in the black market of stolen books and manuscripts.
Mercer Mann is a young novelist with a severe case of writer’s block who has recently been laid off from her teaching position. She is approached by an elegant, mysterious woman working for an even more mysterious company. A generous offer of money convinces Mercer to go undercover and infiltrate Bruce Cable’s circle of literary friends, ideally getting close enough to him to learn his secrets.
But eventually Mercer learns far too much, and there’s trouble in paradise as only John Grisham can deliver it.

Ok, who really wrote this? If it was JG perhaps he needs to take a vacation from writting. Not up to the standard he usually writes. I have read ALL his books and this one is awful.(imo). So sorry can't recommend!

As an avid reader of Grisham I look forward to every book. To call this a dud is an understatement. Giving this one star is being charitable. Ironic that much of the boring story is about authors trying to sell weak stories. Struggled to read half of this total snoozer. Phew!!!!!

I thought I was being punked If one adds up forward, publisher pages , index, and title pages then subtracts from the 228 pages then this is norhing more than a $14.99 short story and not a very good one at that Even James Patterson isn't ripping off his readers this much. Will think long and hard before buying another of his books

I was disappointed in this, the latest from Grishom. I am a dedicated fan of his but feel that this one was lacking depth and suspense. Also, only 228 pages? Really? I would like to do what Bruce Cable did in one scene and box it up to return to the publisher.

Great read, has crime comitted first, then builds reaction to it! Totally NEW concepts being used. More like this, please, John!

Not his best work by far.

Where was the Grisham style? I buy everything he writes, and while I like some plots more than others, over the years, his writing has never failed to impress. Until now. I will think twice before buying his next book.

Lousy book. Not up to the authors standards. Could have been written by a high school student. Too bad. I am a Grissom fan.

" I didn't dream of being a collector either. It just sort of happened."- Camino Island John Grisham. That statement is only too true, some of us never begin to imagine becoming book collectors but it is an addiction, once you buy the first one you end up buying more and they sit on your to be read pile until you finally make it to the book in question. Such is the case for me and Camino Island. I pre ordered the book on the description of a mystery surrounding original handwritten manuscripts belonging to non other than F Scott Fitzgerald. I normally am not a big John Grisham fan just based on the sole fact that I prefer Fantasy books over legal thrillers but this one I couldn't put down. Towards the end of the book I began to get an anxious excitement almost dread of finishing the book. Dread because I would miss it after it was finished and anxiousness because I wanted to find out what happened. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I will admit I never saw coming. I suppose that is why John Grisham is great at what he does. The bottom line on this novel is if you have any interest in F. Scott at all or this typically isn't your cup of tea give it a try anyways. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I have read almost everything Grisham has written and is below his standards. No depth or intrigue to the story. You knew the ending about halfway through the book. John please stay with your lawyer theme or you will lose your base.

.something has happened to John Grisham. For a while I thought this was going to be his frist romance novel. Weak plot and little character development. Flat ending Where are the legal thrillers with great plots?

I only finished this book because I was on a long flight back from Asia.

Set up a crime was interesting. After that it was pretty boring.

Boring. I was really disappointed. Grisham's books are usually so good and I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did.

I was very disappointed. It just was not exciting at all. I have read most all of his books and this along with a few others of his last few books just do not stand up to his first books that he wrote. I also would not recommend this book.
