Former child country star, vocalist Billy Gilman continues his transition into adulthood on this eponymous release that showcases his contemporary country and adult contemporary pop style. On the verge of 18-years-old, Gilman is an appealing singer with a bright and naturally pure tone who often sounds like a mix of Ricky Nelson and Bread's David Gates. Gilman has grown into his voice since his last album, the vocally awkward and emotionally gawky CCM-laden Everything and More. In contrast, such tracks here as "Southern Star," "Gonna Find Love," and "Clueless" are catchy, superbly crafted love songs for young adults that fit perfectly with Gilman's still-sweet-eyed persona and newfound vocal confidence.
